Added personal phone to business account, business is downsizing

Hi, was wondering if anyone knew a way to keep a number.   It was my own personal cell number for 10 years prior to joing a new company, which added my cell number to their business plan.  Now the company is downsizing, any ideas on how to re assign the cell number back and re establish a personal account with it?

You can port the number if you are still the Account Holder.  If not, you will need your former company to re-assign the phone in your name.

Go with virginmobileusa.com  get a refurb phone for $30 with $20 worth of inutes on it and free shipping.  Port your number to that for $15 every 3 months or you could port to a VOIP provider like vitelity.com

For the most part, you probably won't need to pay for portability if you stick with Verizon. You will need to get permission from the current owner, if its you, great! If not, you will need to get something from your employer. You can have it turned into a cell phone or whats known as a remote call forwarding and have the calls automatically forwarded to a number of you choosing. That's were some fees may come into play. If you want it back as a landline/forwarding call the business office, if you want it back as a cell, start with Verizon wireless.

I believe the company's account (SPOC) would need to call Verizon Wireless Customer Care and have Verizon Wireless Rep. note the account of the company's consent/authorizations to release the number to you, once this is done you can call and refer to the account notes and assume liability.  Whether it be new or an existing account.  That is how I did it way back when.  IE both parties callin-in to Customer Care to authorize....hope it helps.
