2 year contract

I have the fios triple bundle phone/tv/internet at a set price for 24 months and I have been using the service for a year now.  I am moving at the end of the month and the complex I am moving to is already wired for fios however when I called verizon to set up they transfer they told me that even though I had a 2 year contract that the area I was moving to does not do contract that they only do month to month so that my contract would be cancelled and my price will go up 20.00 per month.  This makes no sense to me because I have all the equipment, the complex is ready and I have a 2year contract that they are not honoring.  Has anyone else ever had this issue and is this legal?
