DVR Price Increase

Just received a notice that the monthly cost of our DVR is increasing.  Are we, long time Verizon customers, paying for all of the free DVRs for the new people?  We really enjoy the convenience of watching shows on our schedule, but there does come a point where convenience and the old checkbook don't quite agree.  Will be contacting Comcast when our contract is up in June to switch up to a better, less expensive plan.  Obviously Verizon does not feel much loyalty to their long time customers, and as such the feeling is mutual.  Verizon wireless is also going to add a $30 fee to current customers who want to upgrade their phone with a 2 yr. contract.  Isn't the 2 year contract enough? Really, Verizon?
