Hello:
[I tried live chat for help w/viss, but the request/s just hung]
Recently had to reset/reload computer to factory load following a rootkit trojan infection. Downloaded VISS and installed. I already had VISS on my account. VISS tries to activate, but can't. Net connection, all else seems ok, the window just stays open and hangs. AND, when I sign in to Verizon, it now greets me as "Hello" rather than with my name or userid. I figure this could be either a configuration or browser error on my part (correct port/s not open?) or a database problem on Verizon's part. Verizon correctly links my signin with my account info and status. Mcafee gives me until 8/26 to activate, TIA for any assistance/ideas.

Do yourself a favor and get rid of Verizon Internet Security Suite. It's nothing more than money down the drain and in my experience, my computer gradually came to a screeching halt because of undetected viruses. VISS powered by McAfee is just the cheapest virus program for which Verizon gets the lowest bid.
There are some really good free virus programs that I would suggest instead: Avast.com is very reliable. I use that in conjunction with malwarebytes.com. I understand there is also Microsoft Security Essentials that you can use.

questioning-- thanks, I got the screeching halt effect with fake alert virus while mcafee was on watch. Appreciate the tips-- will check out the others.

At least you caught the problem early. In my case, I had VISS running for several years until my computer got to such a point that I couldn't log onto the Internet anymore. The virus scans with VISS kept coming back negative. I had absolutely no idea I had all of these undetected viruses until I went through the phone book and hired someone privately to come to my house and figure this out. It was expensive but it was a last resort.
As soon as those viruses were cleaned out, my Internet speed went back to where it should be and ever since I have been using the free virus programs, I have had no other issue.
