Ha. Good luck with that! We have found the customer service representative in ordering and billing completely inept. So many mistakes!

The One Bill reps can help sort this out quickly.

Thanks for advice. Called 1-800-VERIZON, I asked the rep for the "Verizon OneBill Wireless Representative" and I was promptly forwarded to the the main Verizon Wireless help desk(!) When I finally reached Verizon Wireless Billing, they were able to forward me to the right place (hint: keep telling them "OneBill"). After 5-10 minutes on hold, the OneBill person who answered promptly took my gift card #'s and PIN #'s and applied them to my OneBill account ... no change is reflected just yet on my online One Bill, so I can't confirm this actually works, but I'm hopeful.
Of course VZN could make gift card redemption easier by creating a web gift-card payment option on the myverizon.com site. Heck, if making this easy was their goal, they could have deducted the $200 from my VZN bill automatically rather than issue a gift card, or they could have mailed me a check for $200. But that's the nature of gift cards -- merchants all over the world hope you'll "buy" them and never use them, and by making them difficult to use, VZN inevitably reduces the number of people redeeming these vouchers to less than 100%. Wall Street Journal reports $6 billion per year is apparently wasted in the U.S. on unredeemed gift cards, so VZN isn't alone in the practice.
Anyway, thanks to my fellow customers on this stream I only spent 15 min on this, so I'm grateful!

I redeemed 4 gift cards by calling *611 from my mobile [or 800-922-0204]. Hit options to speak with an agent. Try "other options", "0".
- Tell agent you want to apply wireless gift cards to your One Bill account.
- Either you or the agent should say that s/he needs to complete a T.O.P.S. form - a "transfer of payment form" - to apply the payments from Vz Wireless to Vz OneBill.
- Agent will provide a confirmation number for each gift card redeemed.

As it turned out, six days after I called, it showed up as a $200 CREDIT balance on My Verizon (NOT Wireless) when checking my balance. So it obviously will be applied to this month's VZ bill.(I hope!)

Thanks to everyone on this message board! I finally got my gift card applied to my One Bill. It took me 5 separate calls to Verizon to get connected to the One Bill Department, but once you get through to them, they know exactly what you're talking about, and the whole process only takes 10 minutes. I did get two phone numbers which are supposed to be direct lines to the One Bill Department.

Hope this helps someone out there!

I did an online chat and the person I talked to was able to do it for me in about 10 min. I just gave her the gift card numbers and pin numbers.

Wow - this was a two hour journey for me, including wasting my time going to a Verizon Wireless store because a phone rep said I could only pay using the in-store kiosk. (The store near me doesn't have one, so I can't tell you if that actually works.) It amazes me that Verizon is so completely incapable of dealing with its own internal financial arrangements.
To redeem an electronic gift card from Verizon Wireless (received from the Verizon Device Recycling Program), do the following:
- Call (877) 214-4572 [That number is the Verizon Wireless side of OneBill.] See this link for more details.
- When prompted, enter your Verizon Wireless main phone number (if you have multiple numbers on the account).
- Press '1'
- Press '0' to get a representative.
- When a representative answers, ask if he/she is a OneBill representative who can process a T.O.P.S. transaction for an electronic gift card. If the person doesn't know what you're talking about, ask to be transferred to 'Kendall' who knows exactly how to do this.
- The representative should be able to pull up your gift card in his/her system without you having to read the numbers off your e-mail.
- If your OneBill balance is lower than the amount on your electronic gift card, the OneBill will be paid off and a credit will remain on the account for the subsequent month(s).
- You should receive a 'request number' from the representative that confirms your gift card has been applied to your OneBill account.
Good luck!
