Hello. Using IE 8, HP Pavilion, Windows Vista, 32-bit, Windows 7, sp2. For some reason when I try to click on some links to open them I hear a click and a yellow star icon appears, but the link will not open. Thinking I read this some place,  I tried to use the Shift key while clicking on the link. That didn't work.

Why does this happen and what can I do to be able to open these?  It doesn't happen all the time but enough that it's annoying.

This sounds like a machine issue to me. Do you have any add-ons such as toolbars or shopping helpers/coupon printers installed on your computer? If so, remove them. I would also try clearing your browser's cache and cookies.

I'd also try resetting your computer's mouse and sound settings to the Windows Aero Default scheme. See if that helps with the clicking and funny mouse animations.

I have the same problem but only when using verizon site E-mails
