I need to access the internet in a restaurant w/o a wifi hot spot. Can I use a phone jack and old fashioned phone cable?

Maybe you should run a cable from your home to the restaurant

With regards to our mobile phones, Barry Diller, the TV entrepreneur who produced FOX and USA Broadcasting, made a presentation Tues at his IAC offices. Diller declared his business was backing a new start-up called Aereo that will permit consumers to watch live television broadcasts on iPads and other gadgets. Are you looking to use a dial up connection? 56k modem will be very slow, and I don't know of any ISPs that still have a dial in access service. For a serious answer. Even if the restaurant had a phone line you could use. Unless it is your restaurant.

The short answer is yes. There are still dial-up internet providers out there offering service. The service will only be 56K and cost somewhere between $8 to $19 a month. You will, of course, have to have a dial-up modem in order to access it.

Cool! I have not used one in years. Any names? Does AOL or MSN still have open modems? I believe an MSN account may get dial up. I just signed up for the minimum account for $9.95 a year and I do recall something about connection setup. After FIOS I don't think I could stand the pain, but could be ok for Email with just text.
