I am contemplating going with COX instead... I got as far as the checkout yesterday, the only hiccup.... they want to charge me 250 dollars for install... I have to have the professional install because verizon contractors came out last friday and ripped out my cox line from my underground pipe to run the verizon line.... then monday I got a call saying tuesdays install would not happen!

Thanks for the alternate sources of communication, but it appears that the residential help link will not load, and after several tries during the posted operation hours, the chat line is closed as well (the message states that no one is available or it is closed). I've also tried calling customer service using multiple tree options, to no avail. I did get a chance to confirm with an automated voice on the phone that I will be available for my scheduled 25 August appointment. However, no indication if a Verizon tech will be arriving. How, then, can we "talk" to someone? More importantly -- are any Verizon FIOS installations being done at all while this strike is happening? If someone would answer that, at least we'd know...

How were you able to get a scheduled appointment date? Did they contact you?

mandohut - Try the online chat again (sometimes the page has a bit of lag in loading, and during the lag it can appear that chat is unavailable. Here is the link: http://www22.verizon.com/content/ContactUs; choose “Live Chat.” If a chat agent is available to assist you, the chat link will become live after the page is fully loaded.
dominick624 - Not sure which link you are referring to?

I totally agree with you! I am in the same situation. I moved my service from one apartment to another.... when the date of service arrived, I got the same message. I called in to see what the time frame looked like and was told that someone would contact me- I have not received anything. I have been with out service for almost a week now... I called in again, and was met with a rude manager who told me that she was a manager taking calls and would not give me any information. I do not find fault with CWA, as the company refused to bargain with them in good faith. I refuse to have a SCAB or manager install my service, as they do no know how to do the work properly. I will patiently wait for the strike to be over and ONLY ALLOW a CWA Union member install my service. What makes me mad is that the manager was extremely rude on the phone. They would NEVER allow a service rep to talk to a customer they was she talked to me....

WOWOW I hate to rage but verizon is the worst internet provider I've ever attempted to have. Ordered service a week before the strike, didn't have internet for a month, was told someone would come out before the strike. Epic fail on all accounts. Now I'm being billed after being told by a billing representative that I wouldn't owe anything after cancelling my account without Ever having internet for a whole day in a month. Thanks for nothing!

I knew there was a chance of a strike so I ordered FIOS to be installed the Friday before the contract expired. The union guy showed up, looked around then went to his truck. Sat there for 20 minutes, then left saying he'll be back. He never came back. I bet he did it so that verizon feels pressure and loses customers.
The way things are going, Verizon might have to lay off a bunch of these guys even if they settle the contract, with all the people going to the competition...
