Safety Concern/ FAKE CRAIGSLIST INTERVIEW?

[ Edited ]

asassffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff-   Okay, a {word filter avoidance} playsushi ad that won't close is blocking my screen, so please ignore the letters i had to type just to see the message I'm typing.  I'm writing because I was called in for an interview for a job position in a call center location in corona fffffffffff. Office hours are closed otherwise I would call the regular verizon number and check to see that the location exists.fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff I did search the Corona position on this site and there is nothing here about it. Since, he told me others come in to work at the call center in Corona- this is abig a** strike one when I can not  verify the position and can not even verify that the call center exists in Corona.  I also searched the address he gave me and the location is a leased building that their is still an ad up for-Is it customary for a "hiring manager" to ask ppl to come to a leased office location as opposed to an official verizon location? -possible strike two.fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffand, the biggest strike of all? the thing that got me searching in the first place- this person wants me to call him before I arrive so he can open some sort of door which he will lead me through- I have NEVER been on an interview where the hiring manager had time to come down, find you, and lead you upstairs...I've already decided not to go unless I can verify that the address he gave me {edited for privacy} is actually being used as an approved place to conduct interviewsffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff my common sense tells me that this is not the way a call center finds their sales people...Am I wrong?  Please Anser: 1) Is this hiring situation (use a leased building) ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff normal for a verizon call center hire? 2) Is there a Verizon call center in Corona, Ca as he claims?

I would also be very cautious about giving out any personal information to an unknown or fraudulent organization. This could be a possible fishing scam. Identity theft is a big problem. Someone could try to take advantage of this situation to steal personal information.

I would avoid this if possible. Craigslist is one of those sites I wouldn't trust since anyone can interview there. While yeah, maybe it is a good place to check for jobs and such, knowing there is/was a strike taking place there will be some jokers who would like to try and farm information out for those desperate for a job. It's unfortunate, but it's the breaks of the game. Stick to the more trustworthy services as well as placing the calls yourself to a trusted number.

Thank you Jaime Lee, Prisaz, and Smith6612 for your responses.  Identity theft hadn't even occured to me.  I decided not to go. From what I can tell by reading online, the verizon hiring process is very different and they don't even have this position listed on the jobs site...He wasn't honest, that's creepy enough to keep me from not only going but also from calling to cancel.

Oh so they wanted you to go somewhere. It could have been somewhat legit, saying a contractor was trying to hire to do work for Verizon. But still slightly misleading There are contractors that put fiber in the ground and perform other duties. It is just difficult to tell. I am just cautious providing information to people.
