So Verizon keeps saying they have managers and retirees who have come in to make sure everything is running as usual, so why haven't any of these mangers and retirees done anything about new customer installs? Why can't any of the so called managers and retirees send out DSL boxes to FIOS customers who have not had FIOS installed yet? WHAT IS VERIZON DOING TO KEEP NEW CUSTOMERS WHO ARE SUFFERING DURING THIS STRIKE HAPPY WHO ARE IN THE DARK DURING THIS STRIKE WHICH NO END IS IN SIGHT. WHY doesn't VERIZON put updates on the SITE about the STRIKE? It seems as if Verizon doesn't care about their workers or customers, I mean seriously show the customers you care abut us, because right now your company's customer's service sucks like big time

1: FiOS doesn't use modems. It's not a "simple" install for users unless the equipment is already present. At most, if the equipment is present it may just need some wiring knowledge by the user for the service (not for the Fiber, but for the Telephone/Internet/TV cabling choices)
2: Damage Control. If Verizon places updates on their website on how things are going with the strike, it might cause more issues than what has already been done. I suppose the damage has been done, though.
3: I can see where you are in regards to customer service and the "Do Not Care" motives. Every company has started going down that path and it makes me saddened. In other news, the S&P is under investigation for doing something stupid.

1. Verizon will not even make changes for customers with equipment in place, that have had service since FiOS was available. 99.5% of the time I would defend Verizon up until the end. But I placed an order for changes, right before the strike, and I am told I CANNOT cancel it and there is an unacceptable time frame for which the changes will now be made. So if the administrators or managers of this community get upset with me for my opinions or comments then so be it.

Just to clarify, it's "management employees" not Managers. All employees that work for Verizon that are non-Union workers are "management." Union employees are "associates." These are people that do the same jobs as union employees with the same dedication and drive for less pay and with fewer benefits. They are currently working extrasuperduper overtime to cover the additional work left by the striking union employees.

Not quite.
"Management employee" means "exempt employee" under FLSA, and that definition would not be applicable for a number of individuals that are performing work for Verizon while its unionized workforce is on strike, and am not talking about contractors.
Regardless of whether one lives in a state that has union representation or not, a field tehnician or COT can't be classified as "management employee" without directly violating the word of FLSA. These individuals, unlike "real" management employees, are entitled to overtime pay.

I know the difference between DSL and FIOS. I had DSL service previously and my new house which I moved into 1 AUG the previous owners had Verizon DSL, I wanted to switch to FIOS. When I had Verizon DSL in Virginia Beach, Verizon sent me my modem in the mail, I installed the modem, myself, as a self install, no one from Verizon came to my house to install anything. That is is why when called them and asked them could I just use DSL until the strike is over. I mean seriously I don't want to get stuck in a contract with COX, I will just be patience and see how this strike goes I guess

There isn't a lot of reason out there to be upset over someone for complaining about a lack of service. I'd do the same thing too, even if it were a case of something needing to be done that I could do myself in five minutes. ![]()

Not saying that's their FLSA status, just that's what Verizon calls them, and that's how they refer to themselves. If you want to pick that particular bone, you'll need to do it with Big Red, not me. ![]()
**EDIT** I see you're a union employee at Vz, so this should be no shock to you.

Might be worth pointing out that it seems news is breaking about the union coming back to work this week Monday or Tuesday. Seems they've gotten an extension of the contract at which time bargaining will be going on.
