I saw that post on pocketnow.com too. But I was wondering, what is PCD? I've never heard of them before. Are they a wireless service provider? A phone reseller? It's not obvious from the website. Also, I'm assuming this is not an official Verizon branded update, since it's not on the Verizon website. Does that mean it won't have any Verizon customizations in it? Also, is it possible to revert back to the stock ROM if you change your mind?
Thanks to anyone that responds!

Did mine last night. Easy, just be sure and back up everything as it is a phone wipe. Looks nice. Only problem so far is Google Maps not working. I sure it's user error.

The PCD is a Verizon D/L (don't know how they got it, nor do I care!!!)
Installed in 10 -15 min
works great!!!
NOTE for GOOGLE MAPS people - USE IE not Opera to install it!!! (works fine).
I've been playing with BING - has voice command.
The GPS in my phone last night was tracking over 10 Sats and could tell me what side of the street I was on!!!
The only thing I can't find / miss - The 'click' as you scroll the Tflo menu

UT Starcom became PCD in 2008. They adapt software for Verizon. UTS is where I downloaded the ROM upgrade for my XV6800.

Is anyone else seeing their battery drain quickly after the update? It's strange, but I'm actually not even using Touch Flo 3D and am instead just using the Windows Mobile (Windows Phone) UI and my memory consumption is significantly less (under %50), but my battery seems to be draining very quick. I drained the battery last night completely and put my phone on the charger (the HTC one provided with the phone) and I just turned it on and it was down to %90 within 5 minutes. At first, I thought maybe it was just me using it up playing with my pretty "new" phone, but now I'm not so sure. Thoughts?

Hi, Apparenlty this is not VZW approved and may void warranty. Can a VZW person comment on this please.

Where did you get the information that this is not approved by VzW or that it may void your warranty?
I hate to be the barrier of bad(good?) news, but PCD will be as official as it gets. If you're waiting for a press release or a nice little postal card you could be waiting a few more weeks/months.

I have seen/heard rare occurrences where updating/flashing a ROM(Mobile Operating System) can/will cause increased power drain--it is usually a fluke with no known reasoning. If you're confident that your device is not stuck with wifi on, or that you don't have multiple applications running in the background, then you could always try to reflash/update the phone ROM again. If you need to backup contacts, emails, text, etc (PIM data) then you can use MyPhone or another backup/restore software.

I'm completely confident that this release is from Verizon. They haven't posted the link on the support page for the Touch Pro2 yet, but it's the same site that they provide the links for all the other phones. If you go to support vzw.com and look at the old Touch Pro, you'll see the link for Software Update (MR1) takes you to the same site. Same thing for the old XV6800. So as far that, it's a non-issue for me.
As for the other issues, I'm sure WIFI is not on, I've verified that. There are two things worth noting.
First, there are a couple of files in the Windows\StartUp folder that I'm not sure of. I'm sure they're supposed to be there, I'm just not sure what they do and if they're needed or not. They are BTTrayCE, HTCStartUp, and PKG. All these are shortcuts to file in the Windows folder. There are two other files that are in there also, but they've been there on all my Windows Mobile phones (poutlook and Voice Command).
The second thing worth noting is, when I first turn on my phone, I see the normal Home screen, but the bars at the top and the bottom are for the Messaging application. The 'Reply' and 'Menu' options are on the bottom bar and the top bar says 'Messaging' and has the 'X', but the screen shows the Home screen. If I hit the 'X', I get the correct top and bottom bar for the Home screen. Anyone else seeing this? Thanks.
