Addressing the Big Social Issues: Leadership

by Employee Emeritus ‎07-12-2010 01:55 PM - edited ‎07-12-2010 01:55 PM

Kathryn C Brown

Verizon’s Senior Vice President – Corporate Responsibility Kathy Brown recently talked about Verizon’s commitment to being a good corporate citizen – that is, using our resources to address big social issues, have a positive impact in our communities and build sustainable business practices.

Kathy points out that Verizon is doing some pretty terrific work in all three areas.  And in a time of economic upheaval, she notes we haven’t wavered from the conviction that the power of technology and innovation – along with good old-fashioned human capital – can help make lives better in the community.

We’ve captured Kathy’s thoughts on our approach to corporate responsibility in six short videos that I’ll be posting over the next few weeks.  This week’s topic: Leadership.

Iv'e subscribed to verizon wireless services for over eight years. I then decided to go with their cable and internet services. That was a big mistake. I got a bundle advertisement in the mail and of course took it. Thinking that it would save me some money. I agreed to terms of service which were not carried out on their side causing a substantial amount in overdraft fees. I wouldn't be writing this but I couldn't find a real person to talk to that could resolve this issue after I found out about the problem, and have no money to buy our kids anything to eat tomorrow. I was told it would cost less than $150 and my last bill was $497. So thanks for taking the horns Verizon and showing me your no different than Washington when it comes to leadership. I will post this message everyday on different websites and blogs till this issue is resolved.
