Monitoring our home energy consumption is about to get a lot easier and a lot greener!
Last week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) was the perfect place for Verizon to share more details about the new Connected Home solution.
This ‘smart’ service also packs a hefty ‘green’ punch. Lighting, thermostats and appliances can all be controlled and monitored by using a smartphone, computer or through FiOS TV.
But how does this “remote control for the home” work?
It’s simple. Using equipment such as a smart thermostat and a Home Control gateway people will be able can monitor their electricity usage as well receive energy efficiency tips from the Home Control portal.
The service is customizable and equipment requirements will vary based on individual requirements.
Consumers will be able to proactively and reactively manage their electricity usage through various smart devices. For example, if desired a consumer could use their FiOS TV to program their thermostat to different settings for morning, day and night. The consumer can also use their smartphone to make an immediate change given a day’s unique situation.
