I am happy to announce that PBS and Verizon have arranged to make the Frontline documentary, Digital Nation: Life on the Virtual Frontier available via the FiOS Video On Demand* line-up, starting March 22.
You may have seen the debut of Digital Nation on Feb. 2 and if you did, you know what a terrific piece of journalism PBS' Frontline created.
For the past year the Frontline producers have been collecting and studying stories of a digital nation. They have gone out and explored the online world, going into households and asking parents, grandparents, young adults and children how they use technology in their day-to-day lives.
The Verizon Foundation sponsored this program because our broadband networks play such a large role in delivering this technology, but also because we had the opportunity to provide resources to parents, teachers and students to continue the discussion beyond the 90-minute special.
By visiting Verizon’s Thinkfinity web site, viewers are able to watch featured videos from Digital Nation; participate in online quizzes and polls to reflect on digital life; read more about "digital natives" from parenting and educational experts; and comment on the ideas explored in this program.
I hope you will take advantage of the extended run of this special and encourage your colleagues and stakeholders to do the same. If FiOS TV is not available in your area, you also can watch the entire documentary online.
To access Digital Nation on FiOS, press the On Demand button on your remote control. Select the “Browse All” option, scroll down to “Free” where you will find the “People and Culture” category. There you will find “Community Studio” from which you can choose “Digital Nation”.
* Note: FiOS TV is not available in all areas. Visit www.verizon.com/fios to check FiOS availability.
