Posts from Across Verizon – Meet Frank Jackson

by Employee Emeritus ‎06-17-2011 03:15 PM - edited ‎06-17-2011 03:23 PM

Frank Jackson in HaitiMy posts this week have been about a few of the men and women from Verizon who exemplify the passion and energy of our nearly 200,000 employees. It is exactly that enthusiasm that drove our employees to donate more than 733,000 hours of volunteer time in 2010.

While it’s not possible to introduce you to all those volunteers, I’d like to introduce you to three who are highlighted in this year’s Corporate Responsibility report.

Today, meet Frank Jackson.

Frank works for Verizon in Cary, North Carolina where he is a manager on the Solutions Development team.

Last year, Frank generously volunteered time in Haiti to assist with the earthquake relief. He tells us that it was quite an experience.

“As I reflect back on the trip, the most pronounced thought was of the many children who visited each day. Amidst the severe poverty, the children still acted like children. They played on the mountains of dirt on the construction site . . . and they would shout to get your attention just to talk with you . . . (and) even if they only spoke Creole and we only English, we all understood.”
