Two Scoops for You!

by Employee ‎07-15-2010 05:31 PM - edited ‎07-15-2010 11:07 PM

The arrival of the heavily anticipated DROID X brings with it a reminder of something we offer year round: Two scoops of feel good at your local Verizon Wireless store.

People have donated more than 7 million cell phones through the HopeLine program. The phones are refurbished and are sold for reuse. Those without value are recycled in an environmentally sound way. We have a zero landfill policy, and we scrub the phones of all personal data prior to distributing it for re-use. That’s the first scoop of feel good.

The second scoop: HopeLine has distributed more than 90,000 phones with free wireless service to victims of domestic violence and awarded cash grants of more than $7.9 million to organizations working to prevent domestic violence. One in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime, and while this is a bigger problem than most realize it can often go unnoticed.

And you don’t have to be a customer. If you have an old mobile phone or mobile phone accessory you can just stop by one of our stores and drop it into the HopeLine box. Every store has one.

So whether you’re picking up the DROID X, tired of looking at old phones, or you’re just looking to do a good deed, come in to one of our stores and help yourself to two scoops today.
