Since many customers (like myself) have seen losses of channels from their lineup in the recent weeks, I know this may be of interest to many. Most of the channels removed from the Extreme tier we really don't even care about, but there were two in particular that we miss, MGM HD and Hallmark Movie Channel. (HMC is particulary frustrating, because it's part of the lower price Prime tier, and the higher Ultimate, but skips the middle. What's up with that, Verizon?)
I don't want to have to subscribe to a higher price package just to get two channels, and wind up with all the Showtime channels which I don't want at all. I'd think about paying an extra dollar or so for the two that I want, howeverf. Or better yet, let us TRADE access to MGM and Hallmark Movie in exchange for a couple of other channels. Just a thought.
How about a per channel cost? I hate paying my monthly bill knowing that I haven't watched more than half of the channels that I'm paying for. I also hate not having channels that I would watch without having to pay for a higher cost package which would include yet more channels that I wouldn't watch. Same goes with HD. HD is something that does me no good with my current television and I'm not inclined to purchase a new one for something I don't need. Let us choose what goes in to our individual packages. Please.
We definitely like the idea of smaller packages - we have already implemented for movies and sports content as well as foriegn language content. So stay tuned as we evolve the content offers.. think you'll be progressively happier.
HBO, Cmax, Showtime have always been "other packages" since the beginning of time! Saying that you've created smaller packages for them is like saying we just made the wheel round! It's all about money, not the customer.
I find it unfair that we have to pay for packages of channels that we do not watch just to get the channels that we want. If you allow people to pay per channel then people wouldn't be switching to iptv.
I subscribe to Verizon Fios in the Metro DC area. This area has many transplants from all over the country due to federal jobs, the military, etc. It would be great if Verizon could offer a la carte stations to individual subscribers. I would really enjoy the opportunity to view NECN (New England Cable News) or NESN (New England Sports Network). I am sure there are others from all over the country that would enjoy having access to cable stations from their former homes. I am sure folks would be willing to pay a bit extra for this service and I am equally sure that the technology is there to make this happen. I am just hoping that Verizon can be one of, if not the first to offer this ultimate customer service.
Verizon should set a price on individual channels and then let the customer choose the channels he/she wants to watch and pay for. The customers could be billed according to the channels chosen and not have to pay for a bunch of channels he doesn't want. I imagine this could be set up fairly easily with switching however, I don't expect it to ever happen. Too Fair!

I have real trouble with your dropping several public TV stations and ION TV. There are several dozen channels full of reality TV and re-runs you can drop if you are short bandwidth.
Otherwise, I suggest you go to a real a la carte pricing model.
My suggestion is just this. For every Client there should be a BUNDLE STORE, and in this store , should be only the channels the CLient watches. Yes they can set up their Favorites but sometimes we get side tracked and switch to All channels at times and there are a different programming schedule in the All Channels selection. I would like to just be able to turn on the TV and click to the channels I watch most. If I don't watch Sports then I don't need to be paying for them or having the hassle so to speak for gliding through this channels or any and every channel I do not want to watch. Also it would be more efficient to make sure new promotions are enabled only during the time the offer is scheduled..
I should also be able to SYnc my PHONE to my Version Bandwidth selections, so that I can view my channels from any where Verizon Broadcast.
Thank you for your attention![]()

Problem is that the content providers don't want to support a la carte.
The number of channels would drop significantly.
And if you want to watch some of the nitche channels, their price would go way up.
I believe the fios tv service would be greatly enhanced if you allowed your customers to select the specific channels they would like to subscribe to. I make this recommendation because I believe that the current channel bundles, offered by verizon, include too many stations (spanish, sports, radio, etc) that are not desired.
Perhaps, the new package would be called the "Select your Fifty Option". This option would consist of five categories by topic (News, Music, Local Stations, Sports, Special Programming/Radio) from which the customer would select their desired channels. Allow the customer to select a maximum of fifty (50) stations, regardless of the category in which the channels appear. I beleive a fair price for this service would be $50.00.
Thank you in advance for your review and consideration of my idea.

Not likely in the near to mid term. We continue to push on offering packages and a la carte channels to meet everyone's needs... but there are business challenges to overcome that are not trivial. How the content is offered is not exclusively our decision.
You can see the results of this push to provide options in HBO, Cinemax Disney Family Movies, Red Zone, Epix being offered a la carte, as well as foreign language and sports options that provide either a stand alone channel or smaller grouping of channels.
