Please don't add annoying pop-ups to my tv picture - or at the very least give me the option to disable them. I don't care that CNN is available on Twitter (I already follow them) and if I want to go to Twitter, I will. I don't need to be reminded, and I don't want to have to proactively cancel the pop-up.
Thank you.
Yes -- provide a way to turn this off now as I foresee that more channels will start offering twitter feeds and the pop-up will be everywhere! Annoying!
I signed up just to post on hos RIDICULOUS this pop-up is. Are you guys serious? Are you going to start popping up advertisements, too? Another reason to switch back to DirecTV. The savings is being less and less worth it each month which each new ridiculous glitch or 'feature' Verizon forces upon people.
The default should be to NOT have the annoying widgets pop-up every few minutes. I wrote a letter to CNN telling them how Verizon FIOS has been "Stealing" valuable real estate from their broadcast, I hope others do the same.
Verizon needs to ask it's customers what they would like instead of SHOVING things down their throats. I've been a FIOS customer for over 4years and a video customer for over 2years. The video part of FIOS has consistently degraded as far as ease of use and what the customers want.
I already have FIOS Internet, please leave the the video aspect of FIOS video, and go back to being core "Cable-style" service. Verizon has got enough problems with the video side, concentrate your efforts on fixing them not making things worse.
I'm glad I accidently came across these forums, maybe Verizon will start to listen to their paying customers
Yes, this is the MOST annoying thing.
I've tried the exit solution, I seem to remember it coming back again, though I "may" have changed the channel. I'll try it today.
I can see that VZ is working to correct this "feature", but I want to post my frustration with this unsolicited addition. Although we are extremely happy with our VZ internet service, the TV service is less than stellar and with additions like this just downright puzzling.
Before adding twitter features, why don't you guys work to make a DVR that can smoothly rewind without skipping several minutes at a time?
You know what would really endear VZ to me? How about letting the basic channels be broadcast in the clear so that I don't have to have a box at every TV?
The addition of this feature is indicative of VZs behavior with regards to their "daddy knows best" approach to implementing their service. Simply put, I want to purchase internet and TV from VZ without having them control my viewing, rewire my home network or constantly try to push VOD on me.
I first called Verizon about this on Dec 22, 2010. I called back to check status on Jan 18 and was surprise to find that some tech reps were not aware of the pop up, or complaints about it. I reemphasized the need to disable it.
As with other added functionality Verizon has implemented, they should have set it to OFF as default, then sent a message announcing it and with instructions on how to find and change the setting if we wanted to activate it.
Verizon:
Please disable this annoying pop up. As a channel surfer, it is extremely frustrating to have to continually press EXIT to disable this thing.
