IT WOULD BE GREAT IF FIOS OFFERED A WAY TO ACCESS INTERNET SITES. I WOLD LOVE TO GET TO MY SHUTTERFLY, AOL, ITUNES, WORK EMAIL AND OTHER THINGS WHILE I AM WATCHING A PROGRAM OR IN BETWEEN SHOWS..............MAYBE EVEN AN OPTIONAL WIRELESS KEYBOARD
Tivo has the new optional remote with the slide out keyboard. I have not paid for one, but if a STB were to have a browser with that, and a pointer like a Wi, Verizon would kick. It would probably violate to many patents.
A lot of the newer tv's, as well as other media devices, are internet enabled. I can watch You Tube and other sites directly from my Apple TV or my Sony Bravia. My BD player is also net enabled. However, if my FIOS STB had a browser function, that would be fantastic. But I guess this would mean that my HDPC wouldn't really be needed anymore...
Watching a limited amount of content or viewing only a limited about of content is not the same as having a browser built in where you can view what ever you wish. I mean TiVOs are built on Linux, you mean to tell me the existing systems could not support a web browser. If not shame on them. I know CPUs cost next to nothing now. Perhaps adding another $50 to a DVR would cut profit margins.
Be nice if there was a browser built in. Our Wii has a built in browser. Its basic but something the kids like to use.
I would love to have Netflix streaming through my STB. While it may seem counter to Verizon's business plans, I feel that if I can stream Netflix movies to my PC via FIOS internet access, I should be able to stream it to my TV without having to put a PC in the living room.

I'd love this too!
I agree, only if I turn on and turn off that setting.
