Paperless billing

Status: Already Exists
by Mansosgirl on ‎08-31-2011 07:09 AM

I needed a actual bill as proof of address. Since I went paperless, I tried going online and printing up a bill. Unfortunately the online bills does not show your address, it gives you every detail but no address. I had to call up and get a bill mailed to me. It would be nice if the online bills on the PDF files would include the subscribers billing address so phone calls will not have to be made. This will free up customer service reps so they can handle more crucial issues and save on Verizon's paper and postage.

Switch back to receiving your paper phone bill... Save my job and I will plant 2 trees in your honor.

It is actually already there. WHen you bring up bill, there is an option at top labeled Paper. Brings up a PDF format. First page shows your name and address as well as Verizon.

Your website did not ask why I declined the paperless billing option although it was very clear that Verizon wants to do it paperless and that is understandable.  Let's see - I can get the bill in mail, read it, and pay it - or - I can go paperless, receive an e-mail, sit at my PC and log into the web site, find the bill through the all the links on your site, assure that it is the most current, read it and print it - all to save Verizon from printing a bill.

How about attaching a PDF of the bill to the e-mail so I do not have to go to your web site?  You get what you want and go paperless and I do not waste my time once a month looking for the bill.  I certainly do not see any secuity concerns between emailing a PDF or mailing a paper copy.

If you sent a PDF that would be adequate for me to enroll.  You try to make it sound like paperless is for my convenience but making it my responsibility to have to go to your web site and find the bill is not a good deal for your customers.

JMHO.

Well said.

Or, as in my experience, you can be unlucky enough to be the victim of a 'glitch' in the system (technical 'terminology' courtesy of the delightful Dee in e-commerce) whereby you don't even get the email notifiction that a  bill is due so you have to rely on memory (or notes on the paper calendar at home) in order to realise a bill is due, THEN go through the inconvenience of logging on, searching for the right option to pay etc.  Oh joy.

Verizon try to make it sound like paperless is for our convenience but it is a way for them to save money in postage and paper that it is not pass on to the customers. I have not problem with a company saving money where they can and keeping it but  like Richard703 says:  why make it my responsibility to have to go to Verizon's web site and find the bill? For those reasons listed above, I don't go paperless.

I too was a victim of the glitch where no bill or notification was every sent by e-mail and we got no bills in the mail.  Unfortunately, Verizon also changed the billing address for us to send the bill to 7 times in 13 months and finally a payment we sent (we'd have to call each month because there was another glitch in our online account statment that wouldn't show our account info) bounced.  It took over 20 hours and 3 months on the phone disputing it before we finally spoke to some one in the NY head office who was able to see that the address we mailed our check to was no longer valid (the other 15 or 20 reps we all spoke to insisted the PO Box was still valid).

It also takes a near miracle intervention equivalent to walking on water to go back to paper billing.  IF it worked smoothly, I'd love to go paperless - like we have with almost every other company we deal with.  But I'm so gunshy of Verizon's "glitches" that it'll be a long time before I try that again.

And speaking of "glitches" - the top red address bar of this Verizon web site switches between "Welcome STEPHEN" (correct) to "Welcome Sanjeev"!!!  **bleep**?!?!

As Steve said above, Verizon. Every other bill I pay is paperless, but I'll never do it with this bill, And I'm retired Verizon. The horror stories I read prevent me from doing so.
