Suggestions for Do Not Disturb

Status: Maybe Later
by Tomcat0812 on ‎08-28-2012 01:44 PM

Do Not Disturb is a great product and we've had it for years. But with the upgrade to digital phone we have lost some features that were very useful. Here are some suggestions to make the digital version of Do Not Disturb better (at least I think it will)

1. Have more than 10 telephone numbers in the accepted list.

2. Have the rejected calls go straight to voice mail. Right now there is no way of knowing if someone who is not on the accepted list called and with a limited number of telephone numbers that you are allowed this makes it very problematic.

3. Have a code that you can give people that are not on your accepted list that would allow them to call thru to the home. This would be very helpful if you limit the number of telephone numbers that allowed in the accepted list.

The above suggestions are the way Do Not Disturb use to work and I would like to see it work that way again.

Thank You.

You can have the rejected calls go straight to vocie mail. Go to www.verizon.com/fiosvoice and sign in using your Verizon credentials. You can not only set up your DND parameters, you can listen to voice mail, view your call logs, and manage other features. There's a user guide available as well.  You can turn DND on/off from your FiOS TV once you have set up the exceptions.  Go to FiOS Digital Voice in the menu.

We're sorry you don't find the 10 numbers sufficient - we'll consider increasing in a future enhancement. There is no code to get around the feature and we'll have to investigate if it's even feasible. Thanks for the suggestions.

i have had Do Not Disturb for 15 years and you do have other options.  The 10 #'s should be used for businesses that have trouble with your "Call Around Code". Someone should have explained to you that YOU pick out a 4-digit Calll Around Code.  After your 10-digit # is dialed a message starts saying  "we're sorry, the party you are trying to reach.....etc...." then the 4-digit Call Around Code is dialed and your phoine will ring. I only give the code to people I want to call me or businesses that can handle the extra 4 digits ....you do have to explain a lot about how it works when you are told time & again "I tried to call you but I kept getting a message" Please call a Verizon Representative or look in the info packet they sent you or maybe online for instructions on how to set up this feature.

Where can I add the numbers for calls that I want to answer in the do not disturb section?

The Call Around Code worked with analog Do Not Disturb but they don't have that for digital Do No Disturb. I have had Do Not Disturb for at least 10 years but with the change to digital that has all changed.

I agree with the others that mentioned the problems with the digital upgrade in reference to the DND functionality. I, too, have been a DND customer for over 10 years; and I was better off paying for DND separately via analog lines. We really need the functionality to be able to have a bypass code like the analog system. This was helpful when you wanted to give the code to persons that call from various phone numbers (home, work, cell, etc.).

The changes to the DND system should have been shared by the sales representatives in order for customers to make informed decisions about their services in a proactive manner.

Is 'maybe later' a code for this is going to the bottom of the pile and may never be looked at again? I really feel that making DND more like the old analog option is the way to go. The number of annoying phone calls has gone way up since I had to change my fios service to digital. I work with enough software developers to know that most anything can be done thru software.
