Noticed that with a connection other than fios, the "My Verizon" web seems kinda slow.
And how come paying customers are forced to clear-out full screen ADs after signing in to the website - not a biggie but annoying.
1) The Verizon websites have always been slow in my experience. if you have the Status Bar turned on in your browser, watch the activity in the lower left - back and forth, back and forth, between your browser and Verizon and Lithium sites, downloading sometimes tiny little pieces of the pages, separately. I have no idea why it is done that way, not necessary, but IMO very poorly implemented.
2) I never see any ads on the Verizon webpages, but I guess that is because I use ad-blockers, such as Adblock Plus on Firefox and Chrome, and Simple Adblock on IE. Easy fix.
For the ones of us that do not want to have to put up with adds to just pay the biil and leave the rest of you out of my life . PUT IT A BUTTON TO STOP THE **bleep** EACH TIME WE PAY A BILL....................
I pay you for the Internet service and the Web Portal and I shouldn't have to watch these ads unless I select them. As it stands now, I don't even watch your videos because I eject from your web portal as soon as the 30 second or more ad begins. I go to Google news, or Yahoo, or MSN where they don't stick and ad in your face every single video.

I see this original post was from 2010. It currently takes me over 30 seconds for the Verizon customer portal to load. Isn't that totally horrible by today's standards?
uuzinger,
What Verizon service do you have? I have FiOS 25/25 service, far from their fastest, and these days the new My Verizon typically takes no longer than 6 - 8 seconds to totally load, on those rare occasions when I visit it. Still far slower than nearly any other website I visit, but certainly no where near 30 seconds. If you are on a slow DSL connection I can believe your results, but if you are on FiOS I think you have something wrong.
And I guess a challenge: why do you really care? do you really need or want to go to that site very often? I go there at least once a month, to pay my bill. Other than that, pretty much never for me, and I don't see why anybody would want to, what information is available there that I need regularly that I can't get faster somewhere else?
Verizon has far too many ads on its web site. They are distracting, annoying, and they get in the way of using the site for serious work. I cannot believe that such an inundation of ads is truly an effective way of promoting their services. I cannot help but wonder if others, like myself, are turned off by such garbage.
Don't expect me back soon!
This is the most frustrating website one can experience.
It's S.....L........O..........W! Even with Fios Internet.
It's CUMBERSOME. Navigation is most confusing.
It's DISTRACTING. Cross-Selling & advertising with continuous popups is counter-productive.
It's UNRELIABLE. I am constantly being logged off.
As a $3,000/year customer, I'm not interested in a constant barrage of advertising to upgrade to this or that when I visit your site. I'm looking to pay a bill, view/send e-mails, etc.
IDEA - Give customers an option to turn off or at least slow down cross-selling & work on your reliabilty issues!
