I've been watching my firewall log in my Verizon Modem, awful lot of activity from China and Vietnam...
SO, Verizon, here's one for your technical gurus....
You can distribute a series of modems that would allow autonomous access from a specific IP on Verizon that would allow Verizon to look at the firewall logs.
Then automatically download and compile the logs.
Finally when specific hackers are attempting to hack into user computers, throw up automatic blocks in your routers against those IP addresses that have been recorded as attempting to hack.
These lists can be active for say 30 days or so or a set parameter limiting the number of IP addresses to block. When the lists extends, an offending IP address will roll off the list.
Theoretically this can be all done automatically, with distribution of modified modems, and lighten the load on your network while providing additional security for users.
OK, so it is a bit of a chore, but just think of the favorable publicity this can bring you.
"Through sampling of world wide attempts by rouge computer hackers, Verizon now stops hackers in their tracks!"
This can also be extended to other Verizon products and services.
Hey, one last thing, you do this and I expect free internet service for life. After all, what's one free-be with all the great publicity this would bring you! ( Besides that, I'm an old f@rt pushin' 60. )
In your On-Demand listing, you should have a column that shows what channel the on demand video is on.
That way you can bookmark on-demand videos that you know you subscribe to.
Then when you look at all the premiums, you can see what videos you would have to pay for and what videos are available on your channels.
Hello Verizon,
I am new to your service a little over 30 days now. When I had Cablevision the customers went to the movies on Tuesday because they were a customer. Two tickets were given. That was one thing. The next is maybe Verizon customers could play games to win prizes for example: (two, movies tickets, dinning out, seeing a play, etc.,)
It is fun to play games like pinball, questions about Verizon Services to win.
Thank you for reading this note

Another request for Comcast Network HD to be added in The Phila region. SD picture is horrible and there appears to be open channels for placement. Please, Verizon, show us some love. Thanks, Dave
Program Recording: Weekly Updates of new Content or Popular Content
I love being able to remotely set my DVR to record movies from my iPhone, however a lot of the new TV shows advertised are too far in advance to schedule the program. With a busy schedule, its hard to remember to check as the airdate gets closer to set my DVR. HBO has a great app/notification program called HBO Go What to Watch. Basically sends us a weekly update of the new content or the most popular content, as it gets closer to air.
Fios should try to do something like this, OR at least have a wish list so we can type in the shows as we learn of it and when it gets closer to airdate, the TV guide can alert us. Then either update our DVR for us, or request our confirmation that yes, we still want that program.
This would help eliminate my frustration of going through the Fios App process only to find a new network show isn't on the Fios Radar yet.
I am one of many Big Ten alum who lives in the Metro DC area and I love having the Big Ten Network as part of my cable package. However, when I'm away from home, I'd still like to be able to enjoy Big Ten content. The solution is quite simple. All you have to do to please your many loyal Big Ten fans is to add access to BTN2Go, the Big Ten Networks streaming option. This would allow Fios subscribers to watch live football, basketball, and other Big Ten sports content using an iPad, iPhone, or laptop. You were one of the early offerers of the Big Ten Network Channel, and adding BTN2Go just seems like a natural evolution in your stellar service. Please add BTN2Go as an optional service ASAP.
Can the website and mobile app (Android) be changed so that users can protect/unprotect recordings remotely? Right now, you have to be physically next to the STB using the remote control to do this.
Is there any chance Verizon can change their pricing policy for CableCARD to compete with a policy of that like Comcast's?
This is a big problem for trying to eliminate monthly rental fee's from the bill by purchasing 3rd party devices - TiVo's, PC CableCARD tuners, Moxi, CableCARD TV's, etc...
Comcast doesn't charge for CableCARDs unless you add more than 1 card on the same device.
I think that's the best policy to have because it's not the end user's fault that they have to rent these cards from their provider just because the provider chooses to encrypt the majority of their channels. The customer should not have to pay access fees to use a device that they own with a service that they're already paying for.
If Verizon changed their policy on this to mirror or better that of a provider like Comcast, it would make Verizon FiOS TV even more attractive of a solution for customers trying to get the most out of their TV watching experience.
Hey Verizon programmers, why two places for messages? How silly. I have to go one place for verizon email and another place to find responses to service issues etc. How stupid. Those things should be on the same page. Another example of incompetence
When you are in Flex View to preview a movie you should be able to order from right there after or during the preview. You shouldn't have to exit out of Flex View option and then go into the other place to actually order it. Get someone interested and then make the search around to find a place to buy it. I don;t like Verzion. Would not reccommend, Nothing special about it. I'm not sure of what the excitment was about fios. It's just basic over priced TV. CS is below average also. Hopefully they will not be around for long.
Since 1.9 we can view recordings from multiple DVRs from any STB, however, all the recordings are separated out by the physical DVR they were recorded on.
It would be nice if there was an optional mode to view all recordings from all DVRs together in one list.
Multi DVR Savings for Multi-hub Users. Provide a discount like you do for Multi Room DVR and STBs, or multiple set top boxes. Something for multi-hub users that want more than one DVR in addition to, one or more STBs. If you have two DVRs you need to show a discount on something to do with the STB or boxes, and or DVRs.
I respect that Multi-room must be paid for, but there is no pricing that shows a discount on more than one DVR, or a combination of more than one DVR and more than one STB combined. I suppose it may be multi room plus the cost of additional DVRs, but it is not clearly stated.

We may need a Fios Digital Voice Widget. There needs to be seamless movement between the options of Fios Digtal Voice and we need quicker access to these features. Currently it is very slow and cumbersome.
The CALLERID popup should be available, no matter what FIOS TV program we are watching. Pre-recorded, on demand, etc
I am tired of when I hit the guide button and I have to wait 10 to 15 seconds for a stupid ad to appear. It is bad enough the remotes don't work have the time to start with, that when you are waiting forthe ads to appear if you are ot carful, you can order a show you had no intention of ordering. Also the ads in the guid view have now reached the absored level. I saw this with DirectTV where they stick ads for PPV in the middle of the guide. Npow I see Verizion is doing the same thing. If I want to order a PPV I know where and how to get it. WHen I pull up the guid list, that is what I want, a WORKING guide and not ads. I think we pay more than enough for the services there is no need to force ads on us. If you want to give us the TV service for free, then fill the guide with all the ads you want.
My idea is to make my user id and password for all Verizon the same. I went to sign into My Verizon and it wouldn't let me. After several tries I finally used the help with password function just to be told I don't have a user id on that site. WTH! Either I'm a My Verzon user or I'm not and My Verizon should be My Verizon should be My Verizon should be My Verizon.......
OK, so evidently its a tough concept for Verizon to let customers have what they want immediately. Which is strange since i pay a lot per month and i was willing to pay more immediately. I wasnt looking for anything for free. I didnt realize i didnt have NFL network (why would the NFL do this by the way) in my HD package. So on thanksgiving with my entire family around i realized i couldnt watch the 49s. Not a problem i think, since i'll pay to upgrade. 30 minutes later after trying to navigate Verizon's crazy website i finally figure out how to upgrade. Only it tells me that it will take 2-3 business days. Not a problem i think, again, i'll live chat with them. Surely, Verizon being a technology company has a way around this. Turns out no. It really takes 2-3 business days. I can't pay anything now to make it work. So, being a smart consumer i'll switch services. I had Dish. I liked Verizon better. But i guess now i'll try DirectTV. Internet will probably be slower but i bet i'll be able to switch services immediately and watch crazy things like NFL football that evidently isn't on the normal (upgraded and EXPENSIVE) HD channels. Go figure. I'm pretty sure i won't need any TV service in next few years. And yes, obiously i'm upset and frustrated. I own my businesses and make sure i make my customers happy.
Would be nice to have help in teh settings menu. When you come upon a particular setting, hit a key (maybe one of the letters) and you get a window explaining what the setting does and what each value represents. Not all of the settings and values are intuitive to everyone.
I would like to be able to view shows that I missed by going to "on demand" and watching them at my leisure.
There are times when there are two or more shows that I wiah to watch at the same time. If I am not home and I record one on my DVR I would like to be able to view the others on "on demand"
Since the main reason I pay $14.99 for Fox Soccer Plus is its coverage of European Rugby, and there are currently no other channels showing rugby in HD (outside of some rare NBC coverage) I thought I'd throw this out as a 'new' idea. The Fox Soccer Plus thread is all soccer-focused and speaks of various soccer channels that are coming in HD - but nothing about the only channel that consistently offers top-level Rugby. I know this may get marked as 'duplicate' since it mentions Fox Soccer Plus, but I'd also like to throw out the 'idea' of Verizon keeping Universal Sports afer January 1st 2012, as well as adding it in HD when it becomes available. Universal Sports has covered the Rugby World Cup and also covers the World 7's series. And finally, adding BBC America HD will give us HD coverage of some of the Six Nations tournament next year. Hopefully that channel is also in the pipeline.
A lot of companies, including mine get big discounts on their Verizon bills. The thing is, once you show proof of employment & sign up you never have to again. I know of MANY people who leave our company with the Verizon discount to go to other places. Why should they still get it? I think it's theft of services. Verizon- you should require people to show proof of employment, or work something out with employers so you know when to cancel the discount. You would save a LOT of money & maybe our bills won't have to go up for a long time! ![]()
It would be nice to be able to search the channel guide for movies that are starting at a particular time and not see the ones already in progress (as with Comcast). ex: it's 8:30 and I want to see what comes on at 9:00. Now I have to scroll down through everything just to see what comes on at 9. With Comcast, when you moved the menu ahead, only movies comming on at that time show up.
Services I would LOVE to see given to their Verizon Customers at NO Cost....
I would love to see a way of Blocking Companies or Anyone who uses that Automatic Dialing or Automated Messages. I get TONS to my Answering Machine... I screen All My Calls and I am so happy to see the Caller ID on My Television now... but now it's time to figure out a way to Block those Automated Calls. I don't even want them to get onto my answering machine to begin with. I see these crazy long distance numbers on the caller ID so I don't answer.. then it's either a hang up or an automated message left on my machine. When I get so fed enough to answer the call... that is when I realize that what kind of call it is.. Automated Dialing...and Messages.
Saw this in a review of Fios: "What we really missed, though, was having the scrub bar show up every time we hit a transport button. It shows up when you hit play, pause, fast forward or rewind, but not when you skip forward and back. "
Don't change this!! When I skip forward to get past the huddle when I'm watching a recorded football game I DON'T want the bar popping up to obscure the action that I just skipped to!!!
Every time I view a post of mine or a thread, it is impossible to see how many people have truly seen it. I would need to keep track of how many times I have been to the thread.
.
Can we make the user locations show by default? It would be helpful at times to know the town where the users are located. Many user do not realize that, and never set the location to display. If they see it on their postings and do not like it, they can then ask, or look at how to turn it off.
All the wire for Verizon on the poles up to my pole at my house are new the wire in my house is new but the wire from the pole to my house is 15 years old as least how about upgrades to that wiring which I am sure would help with the speed which is not what I pay for my whole development is like this may get you a few more customers
Here is a list of missing features that I had with cable that I would like added:
No NY1 and FiOS 1 is only available in Long Island-No MSG HD and G4 HD-SD versions are available though
No Dial-up internet or Virus protection-included like with TWC
No Start Over or Look Back from TWC
Most channels are encrypted-I used to record TBS with my tv tuner and now I can't
Remote control isn't universal so won't control DVD player or home theatre
$80 for service visit, but usually can get replacement equipment in the mail
No iPad app for watching 84 channels from TWC-however this only works at home with TWC
More HD on TWC-TWC-121 FiOS-95
TV Guide doesn't let you go back in time
Can't record a program that you were watching from a previous hour-example its 3:05 and i go back to a program at 2:30 and record it
No clock on front of new regular HD box-there is a clock on the Multi-room DVR(white color) and SD box (orange color)
LED clock color is annoying-White is really annoying to the eyes and orange isn't great. Green is the color usually used
No red light for recording on DVR-it says REC in white but isn't obvious
Clock on front says PLAY REW FFD instead of time for 50 seconds when using DVR functions-better to just keep it on the clock-I feel like I'm using a VCR reading those functions
Doesn't let you record only 1 min early and 1 min late. Have to do 5 min minimum for each which for ten 1hr recordings can add up to 80 extra mins
Guide doesn't fill the whole screen when on an HD channel
No closed captioning on SD box-can turn on closed captioning from your tv menu and will work though
On demand uses internet so this can slow down your speed-it only has one rewind and fast forward speed too
Can't do record options from the guide when selecting a recording like adding extra time-have to go into dvr menu after scheduling a recording
When looking for upcoming shows it only shows the next 3 days worth of shows instead of 14 days
Can't record 2 programs on the same channel if they overlap. Say you extended the record time for one program and it overlaps with another on the same channel that you also want to record, then you have to remove the extra time that overlaps
To see the air date of a program or actors you have to press info 3 times
When you're playing a live recording it doesn't tell you time left till you're live
Can't add more recording time to a live program-have to choose next program to record or make manual recording
Can't connect expansion eSATA hard drive for additional DVR recording space till 1.9 software upgrade
To use Media Manager to stream photos and Verizon remote app you have to be connected wirelessly to the Verizon router and not your own router
Can't have 720p and 1080i simultaneously and have to choose one-With TWC could choose both, but it's annoying when you switch from one channel to another that are different formats because your tv takes a couple seconds to adjust
FiOS doesn't include all their channels in one bundle like TWC with the DTV Value-The Ultimate HD bundle is an extra $30 a month
No anonymous email addresses like earthlink gives you
Verizon seems very strict with illegal downloading-section under online account says Alleged Copyright Violation Notification
Can't set a power on channel
No settings button on remote-have to press menu then go to settings
Can't turn off AC outlet on the SD box when the box is on
When looking at on demand and upcoming shows you can jump up or down by pressing channel up and down
Can't have caller id on top right of screen-That's where time warner used to have theirs
Can't protect recording till after it's recorded unless you're recording a series
It's annoying how the play and pause button are connected
Fast forwarding stops 1 min before finishing-should give you the option to not do this. Also should be able to press rewind to go back to a recording while you are in the menu that asks you to delete or restart a recording
Closed captioning should be activated with just one button press as opposed to cycling from off to CC1-also should be another press to turn it off instead of having to cycle through CC1-6. should be able to set default CC in menu
When press info it blocks a big part of screen as opposed to pressing the OK button
Should be able to set time for info banner
History 2 comes before History 1 channel-ESPN 1 and 2 also should be consecutive and not separated by 3 channels in between
Cursor buttons on remote are annoying especially when going through the guide because you have to push deep
Ads pop up for movies when you press guide and dvr sometimes-paying customers shouldn't be subjected to this
Can't set DVR from regular HD or SD boxes-not sure if TWC has this
When deleting recordings yes should be the top option and not the bottom option
Favorites button toggles between whether channel up flips through all channels or just favorites-favorites button doesn't actually flip through favorites with every press

It's ridiculous how some channels are in prime, which is a lower package, but not included in Extreme
I also put most of this list on Facebook were 470 of my friends can see it. I hope this adds more priority to these features being added.
I have a couple of requests for Idea Exchange
1) Would be nice to not have to log in to site every time I restart browser. Even if I click stay logged in for 2 weeks, I still have to click sign in button every time I come back (after having closed browser). Understand people may be concerned about security as login uses account login. But on private PC, should not be a problem.
2) Clicking Back to Idea Exchange should take you back to where you were vs to 1st entry of Hot Ideas. Click on New Ideas, then go a couple of pages in, then click on an idea to read comments. If you hit Back to Idea Exchange, you go back to 1st entry under Hot Ideas. Then you have to navigate down to get back to where you were.
I would like to see the verizon fios home phone and internet servas to be lowerd since you have faster speeds we should NOT be paying $100 a month for slow speeds it should be $50 or less even if out 2 year contract is up or not. Also you should offer the 802,11 n wirless routers to all fios users not just people witht eh fasts speeds since some of us need to have a router that can have faster data trasfer rates and biger wifi range since the othere ones do not have it. Please offer a free swap out for this stuff. Also the internet servas for fois users should be conected to the power backup system since some of us have computerized applicashion that must stay conected to the internet even where there is a powere outage since my school requires that since they are always singing new class maertal to me and if there is an outage i would not be able to complete my work on time.
Email page has more Verizon stuff on it then necessary. On my 9" tall desktop only 5 1/4 is for email. I have 9 lines of your stuff. Why can't it be condensed? I know if I hit F11 I can do part of the work for you, but 1/2 the screen??? At least 3 lines are repetitive.
Verizon should have a listing of all TV Systems and other products by Product Code and Manufacturer that will not operate with Verizon Remote Control Units. The list should include work arounds or solutions. Also if Verizon is working on providing solutions and an estimated tiem when that might happen.
When I trid to set up my NEW Haier 24" Class 1080 60Hz HDTV Product Code L24B1180 I was able to get the on / off to work but I cound not get any control over the sound. This was also true when I switched to a different Verizon Remote.
At one time the set turned off when I trid to use the sound control on the Remote.
Here is a on line chat that I had on the subjet with Verizon....
A Verizon Service Representative will be with you shortly. Thank you. Agent ...... has joined.
: Chat ID for this session is 11201139790.
(00:34:45): My problem is that I can turn on and off my TV with the Verizon remote but I can not control the sound.
(00:35:20): you will need to re program the remote
(00:35:30): To program the TV code:
(00:40:38): Code 1061 dose not work. I have a New Haier 24 inc 1080 TV and none of your codes work. I can get it to work with the TV power but that is it.
(00:41:53): in that case we will have to replace the remote
(00:43:00): Did that. I tried two button and four button Verizon remotes and none of them work.
(00:43:55): is this the first time with the issue?
(00:46:00): No. Verizon sent an identical verizon 2 button remote and that also failed. The Verizon box is new – it’s for HD.
(00:46:40): did it worked before?
(00:47:37): Never with the new Haier TV, only with others.
(00:48:02): in that case its a tv issue
(00:48:22): its not compatible
(00:50:05): I get that. Verizon is not keeping up with the latest technology. It’s not the TV it is Verizon. My Haier Remote works. Maybe Verizon should send a Harmony Remote?
(00:50:45): im sorry for that
(00:50:50): is there anything else i can do for you?
(00:52:24): Can I program the AUX with the Verizon box to control the sound? No I do not have an AUX sound unit.
(00:53:59): ???
(00:54:04): is there anything else i can do for you?
(00:55:10): Send it up to one of your technical staff please.
(00:55:20): ok
(00:55:25): is there anything else i can do for you?
(00:56:28): You may have them respond to us at …..
(00:56:48): sure
In the old VY Email, I can enter adressees title, Dept as well as The Email address. In the new mail, all I can put in the "TO" line is the Email address. I've tried the new mail and it did not suit my pupose. I found it to be clumsy and useless. When I tried to go back to the Old Email, I was told I couldn't. I don't give up easily and, after talking with many people, the old Email was restored to me.
I thank whoever made that decision. I was, however, told that I could lose the old Email at any time; Just wanted you to know that, should that happen, I will immediately drop Vereizon FiOS and go to Time Warner Cable Internet. I see no reason for you to take it away but, I feel very strongly about this. Therefore, I request that you respond to this idea with a promise to let me keep the old V-Y Email, permanently. Almost everyone on my street has FIOS and most of them hate the new mail as much as I do.
