We had a massive storm last night. At 6AM we had TV service, at 8 AM we didn't. Because I didn't know if this had been weather related I followed the instructions on the screen to try to reboot my top box. BIG MISTAKE. Now not only do I have no FIOS TV I cannot access the shows on my DVR to catch up. If there had been one warning to double check if it's a universal outage before rebooting because if you do you won't be able to watch your DVR I wouldn't have done it.
Then, when I finally get to speak to someone at customer service about that he argues with me that it's unnecessary. Arguing with a customer who called to make a suggestion about how stop customers from getting angrier? Great customer service. I went from irritated to upset. I am now an unhappy customer and I could tell the guy on the phone just didn't care.
Hey Verizon, how about a warning on the TV and on the website tech support warning us customers not to re-boot the top box if there may have been an area wide outage?
There are times I have to print the on-line bill. It goes on for three pages, but it could easily fit on one! On-line billing saves paper and postage (for Verizon for sure), but no care is taken for the customer not to waste paper. Esy to fix! Fix it!
During the recent upgrade, maybe, the NYC 311 widget stopped working. It lets you select cameras, but they can't be opened up. Is there a way to do it? Pressing the OK button doesn't work. Please fix it.
I know Verizon got a lot of complaints about the 1.9 guide being to bright so they changed it to 1.9.1 with a much darker scheme. I know that for some like me its way to dark. Why not have several color schemes that people can vote on then change it to the one people vote the most for?
I'm sure using a program like photoshop could change colors on pictures of the guide rather then actually make the scheme which would save time and money.
Use several color schemes, post pictures, have people vote on the best, then go with it.
I am new to FIOS and when viewing music channels noticed that the screen of my plasma tv did not dim the image on the screen. Image is so bright that it may cause burnin. Suggest software mod to dim intensity of tv screen when viewing music channels.
Okay, so I am a rewind LiveTV addict. I regularly hit the rewind button the second I sit down so that I can catch up on the last hour of news/sports/whatever. But then the unthinkable happens: I accidentally hit a button on the remote (On Demand, Last, Channel +/-, numeric keypad), the other tuner is already taping something, and my hour of buffered television is now gone forever. Grrr!!! ![]()
My idea is to have an option listed somewhere in the MENU section that would allow people like me to set up a Channel Change Warning, that would pop up if I try to change the channel away from a channel that has been buffered for more than 'X' minutes. Where 'X' is the second part of the option allowing you to decide how much buffer size you want to have before the warning would appear (5, 10, 15, 60, etc.). (No sense in having this warning pop up when you are trying to channel surf.)
This way when I accidentally hit the wrong button a friendly message pops up asking me, "Are you sure you want to change the channel? YES/NO" And I don't have to spend the next five minutes cursing my stupidity and then go find something else to do while my buffer gets bigger.
After a box resets/updates it waits until you turn it back on to begin its startup/initial download procedure, even if it's been hours since the reset. Why doesn't it do this on its own after a reset? Why do I have to wait another minute or so staring at a red screen before I can watch TV?
When playing a program on an STB that is currently being recorded on the DVR, the recording length starts at the length of the program when you start playback, then counts down to zero, then gives you no other indication of where you are or how long you have left. It didn't used to do this. It used to keep track of the current length. Please change it back.
If I find a show in search mode, my only option is to record it. I'd like to see the reminder option available as well.
Most financial services or service companies are able to change a billing cycle - even Verizon Wireless. But Verizon says it's impossible? That is so ridiculous. Switching over to digital voice in a suite of virtually all Verizon Fios services moved my due date up 5 days - and there is nothing they can do about it. I've paid my bill on the first of the month for 20 years. C'mon, Verizon. That's really, really lame. It can't be beyond your system's capability to adjust billing cycles - it just can't.
Please make the previews on OnDemand appropriate for all ages! We love all the kids shows available for our toddler on OnDemand, though the previews for scary/action movies are not suitable for her to watch as we navigate the menu. One must have scared her so much, she runs into the other room as soon as the OnDemand menu appears and won't come back out until her show starts. And once her show ends and the menu reappears with the previews, she runs right out of the room again.
I've shared this experience with many other moms and they all agree. Why would we have to deal with these previews to access programming we're paying for?
Thank you.
It looks like Verizon is seriously considering improving its Call Block feature. Here is another idea about how this could be done.
I was looking up a number on one of the websites where people trace nuisance calls and I came across mention of a service that some companies, including Cisco, are providing to their customers. It would be wonderful if Verizon would offer this.
Here is the description from PVT Telephone in New Mexico:
"No Solicitation
"The No Solicitation feature screens incoming calls between the hours of 9 am and 8 pm in your time zone. Callers hear an announcement similar to the following: “You have reached a number that does not accept solicitations. If you are a solicitor, please add this number to your do-not-call list and hang up now. Otherwise, please press 1 or stay on the line.” If the calling party is not on your priority list, they have the option of listening to the announcement or interrupting it by pressing 1 on their handset.
"You can add up to 25 directory numbers (505, 505-7XX, or 505-7xx-xxxx). Only incoming calls from these numbers are allowed to connect directly, with no announcement.
"You may review and modify the priority caller list by pressing a predefined number combination on your keypad."
And Cisco's very long and detailed description of their service is here:

Election season seems to have started today and I am on the verge of turning off my ringer for the duration.
cat6 will run faster from the main box to inside the home. also the newset router verizon is using needs to be updated to the latest version. to handle the 150/60 speeds. the customers are paying for the best, we should get the best. i know verizon can handle that.
We are in a DVR market, certainly a high penetration of the overall market. Can we stop with all these redundant WEST HD Premium Movie Channels?!? And with the bandwidth saved start adding HD Movie Premiums that you're currently missing like:
Showtime Beyond
Showtime NEXT
Showtime Women
Starz Cinema
Starz in Black
I realize not everyone owns a DVR, but shows on the main HBO/Showtime/Starz/Encore/Skin-a-max repeat so often that even one w/out a dvr doesn't have to worry about missing any of their fav movies........
Three of these channels have already been requested Starz Cinema and Starz Black have already been requested here:

It would be nice if the Verizon Yahoo webmail worked properly. Some webmail comes in as bold and some not. It should all come in as bold. Please fix this.
