I just came back to Verizon after 3 months of trying out Comcast. In the end, it didnt work out but one thing I noticed that I didnt even realize was possible is that my Tivo which was using a Comcast cablecard, now had an icon for Comcast and accessing on demand services! I was so glad to see this! When I went back to Verizon (today), it was like before where I still dont seem to have access to any on demand services. Is there any way to have this also like Comcast offers without using a Verizon owned box? Sorry, I still love my Tivo and no other DVR or set top box compares to them, but I would really like to see this as well. And if its not something thats possible already and just dont know how to yet, please give us this upgrade also!
Thunderstorm season is back in Texas, and we don't have a way to track storms real time. The "news" stations sometimes show the weather (when it's severe enough), and the weather stations and app give us a tiny pixelated smudge that's worthless.
We need a station that's just a map. An animated doplar map updated in real time.
How about replacing the Media Manager app. It was a nice application that is offered by Verizon's competitors. As a long time FIOS customer, it seems that while it is still the best service the continued price increases coupled with loss of content such as the media manager will begin making alternative service providers more attractive.
With the ability to check my wireless Security settings from my STB ("My Wireless Network")! Anyone who has a remote control can see my user name and password, meaning that anyone who comes into my house can easily get my security settings and do who knows what on my network. The fact that this "feature" is not protected in any way (ie. parental controls password), is unbelievable. I would like to see is function protected in some way or be able to be disabled completely.
With the technology that fios uses(networking the router with the set top boxes) there should be a lot more data capabilities, at least with the 500G DVR. A simple application and an installed web cam is all you need to video chat. I mean, imagine watching TV and a message pops up in the corner "video chat request from John Doe-Accept or Deny" All you guys have to do is utilize the technology you already have. You guys waste your time with all of those useless widgets! How about expanding it, more like an app store and having way more variety there for the consumer. Have a home page with apps when you turn on your TV. I can choose fios TV or Pandora or Netflix, etc. Oh BTW, why is there no Netflix widget? How a bout an internet browser? Give us more data interaction with the TV so fios can really set itself above the competitors!
Is it possible that at some point in the future we'll be able to use Redbox Instant, Netflix Watch Instantly, Amazon Prime Instant, or Hulu Plus.. or (dare to dream) stuff from the iTunes Store.. or things like that on the DVR? I realize it's more of a technical issue, but it'd be awesome to see it happen.
Please don't add annoying pop-ups to my tv picture - or at the very least give me the option to disable them. I don't care that CNN is available on Twitter (I already follow them) and if I want to go to Twitter, I will. I don't need to be reminded, and I don't want to have to proactively cancel the pop-up.
Please oh please don't remove the Youtube widget. When there's 'nothing' to watch, there's always something with this option. I realize you may be renegotiating contracts and you/they may want to discontinue the relationship, or costs/licensing may be a factor, but I love this option. There is wonderful content available anytime I want something different, especially when it comes to classic film. I am particularly a fan of anything in black and white. Please don't take my Youtube away!
Works with many major streaming offerings except Verion Redbox Instant and Amazon Instant Video.
Supported steaming services:
Players exist for about any device: Windows PC, Macs, Roku, Apple TV, ipads, iPhones, Android, Windows phones, PS4, Xbox, various Blue Ray/ DVD players.. except of course Verion STBs.
I just bought a DVD/Blue ray DVD and it came with a UV code so now I can stream that movie on any platorm or service that supports UV. Why can't this customer friendly service be available from Verizon STBs?
There needs to be a 1-click method to getting to our widgets--basically, a Widget version of the channel favorites. In addition--or by way of doing this--let us delete the default widgets that appear in the scroll.
What's the point in decreeing we can't delete the default widgets? Does Verizon think that if we're forced to have the Horoscope widget there, we'll eventually give in and look at it? If you want to put in certain ones by default, fine, but let us customzie them. The user should be able to put the Widgets they desire into the screentop scroll, and ONLY the ones they desire.
