The last I checked, FiOS is a paid monthly service. Marketing your customers to advertisers is a violation of customer trust and indicates the arrogant disregard and contempt you have for customers that PAY for your service. FiOS is a product. An arguably good product that I invest considerable funds in. To SELL me to advertisers is disgraceful.
When a service is FREE, that service commonly finances itself via advertising revenue (think Google, Facebook etc.). When you don't pay for a product or service, YOU are the product. However I PAY for FiOS. It is completely unacceptable for Verizon to even entertain further monetizing a service that I ALREADY PAY FOR, by sharing demographical data so that I can be exploited by voracious advertisers. Disgraceful. Here are some excerpts of the email I received today:
"
Verizon won't share any information that identifies you personally with advertisers as part of this program.
What information are we talking about?
The program will use:
Postal address is not personally identifiable? Plus gender and age range?
"You will receive ads whether you choose to participate or not"
Actually, no I won't, because I know how to avoid your schemes. But's it's sad because most people do not. Being subjected to advertising and sharing of customer data for a paid service is petty and insulting.
"Your privacy is important."
Laughable.
I'm guessing there was no copy editing on this email as it is filled with contradictions. This program has no merit and only succeeds in violating customer trust and loyalty. You all should be ashamed. Deeply, deeply ashamed.

Hello,
I have an intermittent problem with my FIOS internet. I have the highest speed available and I am getting knocked off of Skype, Google Hangouts and my company VPN randomly but frequently.
I have called support about 10 times. The staff are friendly and see to be capable but they cannot find the issue. Every time I call back I get another rep. I have to re-explain. The second rep has no context or frame of referent. Deduction and elimination on a big scale are not possible with this model. LIke Sisyphus, I push the rock up the mountain only to have it roll down again....
My only alternative unless I get some special help (Please!!) is to go to Comcast for my work internet and phone ( I work from home). I pay a lot of money to Verizon and this I feel is unacceptable.
HELP
Please join the newly announce Netflix Open Connect so that we can access the 3d content and "super HD" from Netflix.
With the technology that fios uses(networking the router with the set top boxes) there should be a lot more data capabilities, at least with the 500G DVR. A simple application and an installed web cam is all you need to video chat. I mean, imagine watching TV and a message pops up in the corner "video chat request from John Doe-Accept or Deny" All you guys have to do is utilize the technology you already have. You guys waste your time with all of those useless widgets! How about expanding it, more like an app store and having way more variety there for the consumer. Have a home page with apps when you turn on your TV. I can choose fios TV or Pandora or Netflix, etc. Oh BTW, why is there no Netflix widget? How a bout an internet browser? Give us more data interaction with the TV so fios can really set itself above the competitors!
My wife and I am moving from my current address, where I signed up for DSL service last fall, to a new address 6 miles away, within the same zip code (24066). I've been a Verizon and VerizonWireless customer for 10 years. After talking to several sales/moving reps, it appears that we won't be able to transfer DSL service to the nearby new address.
The reps confirmed that DSL has been discontinued in our area, and that while customers can keep their current DSL, while no new DSL can be added.
Given my history with the Verizon company, I think it would be reasonable to be willing to transfer the DSL service I currently have to the new nearby address. The DSL capacity and/or port clearly exists, since I am using the DSL at my current address.
I understand that services change, but in this and similar situations, I suggest that Verizon make more of an effort to provide flexible service to its loyal customers. After this, I will be more open to offers from other companies, as it seems that Verizon's commitment to customer service is slipping.
Sincerely,

I am a long standing FIOS customer and supporter, but I was disappointed to know that when I recently upgraded to the 75MB download speed, I was not able to get the new "N" router without a large upgrade fee.
The "G" router supports a Max of 54Mbps speed, so for wireless connections (for me 9 out of 10 possible devices), I am losing 30% of my speed right off the top.
When I asked a Fios sales person, they could not explain why customers who get the 150MB package get the "N" router free of charge, but the 75MB customers do not. We are both above the limit.
Please, someone from Verizon make this better and offer the new routers to customers who are losing speed without it.
Thanks, I understand your point. I will pass this on to the appropriate team. Keep posting.
The latest router for Verizon Fios is the Actiontec MI424WR 3rd Generation Rev. I,
according to the specs, it has only Moca 1.0/1.1 capabilities with "theoretical" 175 Mbps, when actual at home tests have been at 80 mbps. You cannot get GigE (Gigabit) speeds through Rev. I Moca interface, only through "normal" cabling it can be achieved. Moca 2.0 has been released since June 15th, 2010. Right now Verizon is almost 3 years behind in Moca technology. So please make the next Actiontec router have Moca 2.0 capabilities that will more than quadruple our current Moca speeds to 400 Mbit/s and 800 Mbit/s net throughputs throughout our home network, so that you will have more loyal/satisfied customers who like to manage and enhance their own home network.
For those who have no idea what Moca is, it is the ability to set up an additional actiontec router where you havea coaxial wall outlet to pl...
Thank you.
Verzion.com's webpage has completely forgotten about providing an access link to the users of the personal webspace. The webpage interface used to provide a link to - Personal Website - to gain access to your SITE BUILDER to manage my web site. As a customer, I pay Verizon each month use your system to host a website. I expect I should have access as a paying customer to the tools to manage the service you provide. Please update your new Verizon internet interface to allow me to login and go to my services and select "Manage Personal Web space".
I currently have to do a website search to even find a link to Site Builder. If you are not planning on supporting personal webspace services then please tell me. I will gladly stop paying you and move onto a more customer oriented service provider.
With the ability to check my wireless Security settings from my STB ("My Wireless Network")! Anyone who has a remote control can see my user name and password, meaning that anyone who comes into my house can easily get my security settings and do who knows what on my network. The fact that this "feature" is not protected in any way (ie. parental controls password), is unbelievable. I would like to see is function protected in some way or be able to be disabled completely.
I love Verizon and I think you guys are great. My complaint is simple, my are does not have fios and only carries DSL which to me is very slow and disappointing at times. I was wondering if you all can consider Cable Modem in that area.
I was told that Fios won't happen for a while and the DSL service... just plain sucks out here. I live in Freemansburg PA and it would be appreciated if it was considered. Thank you much.

I've been a customer of fios for over 3 years. I've never been delinquent on a bill. I hardly call customer service for anything. I heard that there is a new fios router that is GigE and 802.11N, whereas my current router is 10/100 and 802.11G...
I called to speak with a csr and was told that she could not guarantee which router was sent from the garage and that it was the V3 that I wanted. She told me that if she could, she would... But instead to try the Verizon plus store near my house and that they would swap out my old 802.11G box for the new v3 --- and would do it for free.
So I called the Verizon store near my place... They were nice and said that unfortunately they don't have these new v3 boxes yet and that I should try calling Verizon fios directly because they can help me.
So I called. He person I spoke with told me I was mistaken and that I was given bad information. That they can only swap like equipment.
Seems like each department is given different information...
Which brings me to my idea.
a) train all staff equally
B) allow your good customers... Those that have recommended your service to many many many people... Those that pay their bills. To upgrade to the latest equipment...
Why would you penalize EARLY ADOPTERS?
Why would you alienate the same people who help your NPS?
It doesn't make sense. You have a better chance of retaining me longer and having me remain a promoter much longer - which will lead to a higher ARPU.
But instead you risk losing a customer and converting me to a Detractor.
Please bring back the 25/25 Mbps Internet package or something similar. I hope it is not just me, but the lowest tier 15/5 Mbps package is not quite enough bandwidth for my needs, but I simply can't afford to pay for the 50/25 Mbps package. After all, there is a large bandwidth gap between the 15/5 and 50/25 packages. Perhaps offering a 30/15 Mbps or 25/10 Mbps package would be more beneficial for some users. More options and freedom to pick different plans is always a good thing.
I am a FiOS 3 play subscriber. I hate having to boot up to access my FiOS Internet. So, Instead of having to use a computer with my FiOS internet, can you make a channel dedicated to accessing the internet?
You could also have the STB front USB accept the USB nubs that allow for a wireless keyboard and mouse.
Please look into this, as this is 2013, so seriously there is No need to be last millennium. Thanks.
Dear Verizon,
Thank you for sending a new, working DSL modem to replace the one which was no longer working. I ask you to consider this green option: a mailing label that can be taped to the box which the new modem came in and is then shipped back to your warehouse or recycling center. Many companies are using this recycling method already, such as Amazon, BUymyTronics, and Zappos. The cost to return the old modem to your recycling center/warehouse is negligible compared to the cost of putting a modem in the trashcan.
Thanks for your consideration
We recently switched to Fios from Xfinity and I have to say that I'm quite disappointed with the offerings for kids. While you have the same offerings in terms of number channels available your "depth" of episodes that are offered in each channel is dismal in comparison to Xfinity.
The biggest uproar in our household is that FIOS does NOT support the free Watch Disney app that allows you (with your own cable subscription credentials) to watch a variety of full episodes on Disney Junior, Disney XD and Disney Live shows. There are 5 or 6 other cable providers that support this app- Xfinity included. It seems like an easy way to suppliment what you lack in on demand offerings (in the Disney area anyway.
PLEASE add this ASAP!
Thank you for your comment. We feel this program is a valuable addition for our customers. This program provides Verizon customers with added relevancy in the ads they currently see without sharing any private information with advertisers. In fact, this program does not increase the amount of ads customers will see while browsing the Internet.
If you do not wish to participate in this program, you can click the link below or type the address into your web browser. You will need your Verizon Username and Password to update your preferences. https://www22.verizon.com/foryourhome/myaccount/pr otected/account/MyAccountGeography.aspx
