What I am about to say is something that has bothered me ever since I came back to Verizon.  I am quite satisfied with the performance of the equipment which includes Verizon Fios tv, internet, and phone.  The thing that I am disturbed by is the news page, which I use as my homepage.  Reading news, listening to news, watching news is one of the things that I like to do.  The fact that news stories are the first things that appear on my home page is important to me.  Being confronted with pictures and the stories that go with them is, I feel a good thing.  For some time now ,however,  the feeling that I get when I go to this page is not pleasant.

The minute that the pictures appear, I feel bad.  I have no idea who is in charge of the news stories, but I would like to know.  This person or persons in my eyes demonstrate a prejudice slant in their pictures and reporting.  I really am quite surprised at why this is allowed to happen, knowing the amount and diversity of people who have these Verizon services.  Whenever, there is anything good that could be said about something positive that President Obama has done, it is not mentioned.  The stories about the president are most always with a negative caption and an even negative looking picture.  The reason that I am writing this now is because as I signged on tonight and my home page appeared, I became rather sad.  Front and center was the first lady, Mrs. Obama in the top center with a negative picture and negative caption.  I saw the show mentioned and I know that the exchange was not the negative story that the picture and caption tried to imply.   Usually, when African American people are featured, the story is negative.  Everytime I see a picture of an African American I know that the article will contain something negative.  If its not negative, its not there.  When the story involves Mitt Romney, the attitude of the article and the picture is more favorable.

It would be nice to have the news page appear without seeing such slanted stories and photographs everytime I turn on my computer.  Since I am African American, it does not make me feel good.  I hope someone will consider this situation.

Monaze - I've kept your message open on top of my menu for almost a month now, to remind me to look at the News page.  I've checked it about 15 times since then, but I haven't seen what you've been seeing.  Tonight, for instance, there are a few pictures of President Obama campaigning.  There's nothing unflattering about them, and nothing negative in the captions.  When I click on Latest News/Political, I see three pictures of Obama, two of Romney, and one of Biden.

Either I'm not picking the right times to check, or the news cycle is more friendly to the President now than it was, or someone paid attention to your message and changed their selection of pictures and captions.

Slanted presentations such as you describe would be very disturbing to me as well, and I'll continue to check once in a while to see what's going on.  If I have the same experience you describe, I'll complain as well.
