Are You A Small Business?

by Employee ‎12-01-2010 07:59 AM - edited ‎12-01-2010 06:47 PM

Small-Business.pngThis isn’t meant as a rhetorical question but a fundamental one:  Does Size Matter?

And the Forbes article above clearly says it does, beginning with the U.S. Small Business Administration’s classification of ‘small’ being a business with fewer than 500 employees.

Here at Verizon when we talk about small business, we typically mean those with 20 or fewer employees and, if we dig deeper, you’ll find that the vast majority of those have fewer than five employees.  But, at some point, many successful smaller businesses grow and have more than 20 employees.

The Guardian Life Small Business Research Institute’s recent survey of small businesses sheds some light on business size, the challenges growth can present and how that changes priorities.  Of course, a first-rate product or service, sales and customer engagement all play into the long-term results for any business, but deciding how big you want to be isn’t always that easy to determine or control.

One thing you can count on, though, is that Verizon is poised to grow with you.  In fact, if you go from a small to a medium-sized business with a more than 20 employees or take the next leap to a large enterprise business, we’ve got you covered.  If you grow from five employees to 20, Verizon is your CIO behind the scenes with services that include website design, security and collaboration applications. There’s also pay-as you-go cloud computing to help you with increased storage and application requirements as you grow.

You may be a small business today, but if you have the right tools, a good business plan and reliable partners, the sky’s the limit!  Help us understand you better – How do you classify your business?  Let us know.

Well, after a long wait on a call; email to a local wireless sales rep; and an email for coporate/small business information; NO RESPONSE.  I am trying to get an office set up; need upgraded wireless devices for 4 shareholders (existing Verizon Wirelss Plan holders - - for YEARS); need high speed internet for office; need telephone/fax line (transfer of existing office line to new location; need capability to forward phone line(s) to wireless devices; need wifi enhancement tool(s) for laptop; need advice as this is my first "official" office set up.  Understand it is around the holidays, but this is my first email to the local rep here in Brandon, Florida on November 30, 2010:

Verizon Wireless Business Phone Plans

Good afternoon,
I was in about a month or or two ago purchasing a new phone for my daughter.  I/our company would like to see if you could possibly assist us with guiding us in the right direction for replacement cell phones and will be needing a business line (well, transferring our existing business line to a new office in January).  I have been researching phones, service, plans, etc., but wanted to get your feedback on the following phones for email, connectivity, document support, global connections, etc.:
Droid Incredible by HTC
Droid 2 Global by Motorola
Droid Pro by Motorola
Droid X by Motorola
We currently have the Blackberry Curve 8330 (4 of them).  We have the Nationwide Basic Share 3000 Plan (which I see is no longer available) and seems a bit high for price (almost $400 for the plan for "basic").  Our actual phone minutes average less than 500 for all 4 phones, but texting can average 200-275 for each phone.  Primary line is available for upgrade, second line is available for discount upgrade and the remaining lines have discount upgrades available 12/24/10.  We also need the device for connections while on the road on our laptops.  You had shown me this small device and said it was great.  I am not a big technical person, so am relying on your skills/expertise.
As loyal Verizon customers (personally and professionally), we wanted to get your (Verizon) feedback and suggestions for our business wireless/internet/office phone needs.  We also wanted to see if we would benefit switching from a Family Share Plan to a Business Plan.  Would love to hear back from you, but if you feel we should contact Verizon directly, please let me know that as well.  Certainly, do not want to waste your time.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
