We want to give consumers choice and flexibility, and our unique position as an innovation and technology leader allows us to empower consumers to enjoy the content they want anytime, anywhere, on any platform.
In 2013, we’re going to continue exploring the ever-evolving borderless consumer:
- TV is Still the Top Device for Viewing Video Content…: While preference to watch video on laptops and desktops has grown over the years, both borderless and non-borderless consumers still gather ‘round the tube in majority numbers. As a result, set-top box technology has to keep up, and we’re excited to be unveiling our next-gen solution that will enhance the customer experience and improve the entire FiOS in-home entertainment architecture.
- …But New Platforms are Gaining Traction: When it comes to connected televisions, Blu-ray players, video game consoles, tablets, Verizon FiOS content is being made readily available to our customers on a variety of platforms. We recently announced 75 live streaming channels on Apple’s iPad, and followed that up by offering 75 live streaming channels on LG connected televisions and Blu-ray players. And there’s more to come, so stay tuned!
- …Yet Content Will Always Be King: Last week, Redbox Instant by Verizon announced that public beta is launching this week, showcasing how this is another example of how we’re empowering the borderless consumer -- entertainment on their terms, whether via streaming, physical DVDs or Blu-ray Discs.
