Cliff Lee, a Yankees fan??

by Employee ‎10-30-2009 09:31 AM - edited ‎11-01-2009 03:49 PM

Two Cliffs

As you might have noticed, we’re a little baseball obsessed around here, but none more so that Media Relations staffer, ah, Cliff Lee.

Poor guy is a Yankees fan, and yep, he has the same name as the Phillies’ #1 pitching ace.  As the NY Daily News noted, being a Yankees fan can be a problem for a guy named Cliff Lee.

Our Cliff is holding up well, and probably feeling a lot better after the Yanks pulled out that come-from-behind win last night behind more downright brilliant pitching.  A.J. Burnett was just a little tougher than Pedro Martinez and the Series goes 1-1 on the way to Philadelphia for Game 3 Saturday.

But as a Phillies partisan, I’d expect the hospitality to be just as warm 100 miles south as it was in the new Yankee Stadium.  The Yanks can expect some of that famous “brotherly love” that Philadelphia sports fans are so well known for.

To Verizon’s Cliff, I recommend you stay home in New York and max out on the World Series on FiOS TV.  On the other hand, in Philadelphia, you might just be a hero.  I wonder if anyone has called the Phillies pitcher to ask about FiOS yet...

MLB wants the Yanks to win and they will to satisfy the 'Powers that be.' Anyway......who cares who wins, it won't change a thing in this world, won't make life better. I am out of work and no matter who wins, I will still be out of work. What will it change for the better in your life or anybody's life except the Yankees?  Bottom line: WHO CARES! They will just take their winnings and go out and buy more players. Baseball is no longer a game....it's a business and nothing more.
