You may already know that Hispanic Heritage Month begins today, but do you know why?  This month marks the anniversary of independence for five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.  Plus, Mexico, Brazil and Chile also commemorate their Independence Days in September.

To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Verizon is offering FiOS TV subscribers one month of free access to some of our Spanish-language programming.  Starting today, customers can watch 18 different Spanish language channels until October 15.  The channels included are:

• GOL TV (channel 1523)
• CNN En Español (channel 1540)
• Canal SUR (channel 1549)
• TVE Internacional (channel 1560)
• History En Español (channel 1561)
• Discovery En Español (channel 1563)
• Infinito (channel 1620)

• De Película (channel 1680)
• De Película Clásico (channel 1681)
• Cine Latino (channel 1685)
• Cine Mexicano (channel 1686)
• La Familia (channel 1701)
• Discovery Familia (channel 1702)
• TV Chile (channel 1704)
• TV Columbia (channel 1705)
• TBN Enlace (channel 1740)

Also included is a selection of free Video on Demand titles from Telemundo, ESPN Deportes, PBS Kids Sprout en Español and more.  All of this Spanish content can be easily accessed via the Zona Latina widget on FiOS TV.  This is one of the newest widgets offered on FiOS TV and the first all-Spanish language content in a sleek interactive portal.  From the Zona Latina widget you also have quick access to:

• Video a Pedido – premium movies and Videos On Demand
• Noticias – News from Spain
• Music Choice – popular Latin music channels
• Other Widgets – YouTube and International Soccer
• Guia de Medios – a programming guide of popular Spanish-language channels

Can we add SurPeru to that line up? I will give you an extra $12 a month. Does this mean if it is free for a month, subscribers get a $12 credit? I just had to ask because I knew someone else would.

SurPeru is on the list of international channels that we're considering for FiOS TV, and we'll certainly let everyone know here at the Verizon at Home blog of any additions to the line-up.  We hope customers who aren't  familiar with our Spanish-language programming will sample it during this month-long promotion, but there are no credits for current subscribers.

Thanks for the rapid response. The credit question was more as a joke. Bad sense of humor. My spouse has been bugging me to get the Directv dish working again for just SurPeru. If I do that, I would need to drop some of my Verizon features, which I do not want to do.
