Guest blog post from Gabriel Sotelo the Verizon Reportero for Univision. Gabriel will be a guest reporter on Univision’s sports news team covering the 2010 FIFA World Cup soccer matches in Johannesburg and Pretoria in South Africa.
Hola, todo el mundo! I am excited to have been named the Verizon Reportero for Univision. I’m heading to South Africa to watch and cover some of the soccer matches live! As a huge soccer fan this is the ultimate rush -- getting to experience and be at the World Cup is something I never imagined would happen to me.
I am amazed by this sudden change in my life and it comes at a great time. Of course, I earned it – I auditioned live at the Verizon Wireless store in San Diego last month.
I found out about the live casting call through a friend who thought this sort of thing was exactly what I was made to do. Luckily I was free that day and after dropping my wife off at her parents’ house I drove right over to the Verizon Wireless store.
I honestly never thought I would win! I remember telling my wife that I didn’t really like my audition…. Well, somebody at Verizon and Univision liked it and now here I am! To see my audition in Spanish click here.
I thank both Verizon and Univision for this opportunity and the gift of a dream come true.
As for me, I’ll stay in touch and let you know how things are once I get to South Africa for the FIFA World Cup 2010! Check back here at the Verizon AtHome Blog or to see more frequent posts visit Univision Mi Página.
You can join in the soccer excitement right in the States and watch all 64 games live on your Verizon Wireless cell phone - coverage from Univision that's exclusive to V CAST Video on Demand service.
