Around here, HD is always on our minds, but perhaps more so at this time of year when many of us are making holiday-buying decisions.
Buying one of those new HD TV sets? Verizon customer service reps are ready to tell you exactly what you'll need to get the best HD that FiOS has to offer, including a selection of HD set-top boxes. We offer everything from an HD set-top box to an HD DVR to our HD Home Media DVR, which lets subscribers record programming on one set and watch it on up to six other TV sets in the home. They can even pause recorded programming on one set and continue watching it on another.
Here at Verizon, we have specially trained technicians who install your FiOS TV service. They take care of everything, from wiring to setting up your set-top boxes, and they don't leave until they give each subscriber a tour of FiOS TV's features and services. The reps at our Fiber Solutions Centers are available any time of day to provide assistance.
It's hard to believe, but consumer experts say that some folks buy the newest, greatest HD TV sets, and yet never subscribe to an HD TV service. Multichannel News recently reported that approximately 14 million homes with HD TV sets don't receive a high-def TV signal. Reporter George Winslow talks about the education that's needed, and quotes Verizon VP Terry Denson.
"We eclipsed the 100-HD channel mark faster than anyone else," Terry notes. "We've clearly established a leadership position. We have every reason to believe that we have the highest HD penetration in the industry."
With FiOS TV, consumers get not only the best HD picture-and-sound quality around, but also they have access to between 127 and 137 HD channels - depending on the number of local HD channels offered in each market - as well as more than 2,400 HD video-on-demand titles every month. That's a lot of HD for someone to miss, without the right equipment. So, if you're friends ask how they can get the best HD TV experience, tell them about FiOS ...and don't forget the HD set-top box.
