HD Popularity Grows

100HDWatching more HD?  You're not alone.  A recent study from Knowledge Networks called  "How People Use HDTV 2009" found that high-def viewing has drastically increased in just the last two years.  What a shocker, huh?  But, in fact, the report shows that daily HD viewing has grown by 65 percent since 2007.  In addition, approximately two-thirds of those surveyed said they "always make the effort" to watch a show in HD.

 

The folks at Knowledge Networks also asked their survey takers about one of our favorites - how-to programming.  And according to their study, the number of people watching how-to videos in HD has doubled in the last two years.  We've seen that first-hand, with the growing popularity of the Howcast videos available on FiOS TV VOD.  Seems people can't get enough of the tips on preparing for holidays like Halloween and Labor Day, along with the other tips and tricks offered in the hundreds of Howcast videos available every month.


Verizon's FiOS TV was built for HD.  So high-def programming is important to us, and we've continued to add more and more HD programming for our FiOS TV customers.  Currently, we have 126 HD channels or more and over 2,400 HD video-on-demand titles available every month, in every market - and that's more than our friends at the cable companies can say.

 

I know I'm partial to high-def programming; in fact, I rarely watch anything but HD.  How about you?  Do you check the listings for HD channels first, like the group surveyed by Knowledge Networks?  Tell us what you think.
