History1.JPGThe TV of Tomorrow Show in New York City is all about interactive TV, so it's not surprising Verizon had one of our own speaking on a panel at today’s show. Rachelle Zoffer, Director of Content Acquisition and Programming for FiOS TV participated on the panel T-Commerce Deployments: Overcoming Challenges and Evolving Best Practices.

This morning’s discussion focused on identifying emerging technologies and success factors for t-commerce (television commerce) deployments on the TV, and coincided with a joint announcement made by Verizon, A&E and Delivery Agent.  We announced the first contextual t-commerce app, the HISTORY Shop app, accessible to network programming viewers with FiOS TV.

You may have seen Rachelle quoted in today’s New York Times article, “Our goal is to put things on the television that enhance the programming and create value for our subscribers.” That was certainly part of today’s panel discussion. Moderated by Will Keller, President of WE Keller Group and included industry leaders Mark Garner, SVP of Business Development & Distribution Marketing for A&E TV Networks, Mike Fitzsimmons, CEO of Delivery Agent and Anthony Landamia, Executive Director of Product Management, SeaChange International—the panel became the perfect stage to discuss the new t-commerce app for FiOS customers.

FiOS TV subscribers now have 24/7 access to the new HISTORY Shop application that enables them to watch A+E Network’s HISTORY channel and use their remote control to purchase merchandise related to and seen on hit series such as Pawn Stars, American Pickers, Ice Road Truckers and more.

Built by Delivery Agent and tested in Verizon’s labs and in-home trials, this latest interactive app lets customers use their FiOS TV remote control to purchase a range of brands and products from shows such as Pawn Stars. Just in time for the holidays, customers can purchase items including classic bikes from Schwinn, vintage inspired consumer electronics from Crosley, Civil War and presidential memorabilia from The Franklin Mint, as well as the complete show season on DVD.

One thing is certain from today’s announcement: Interactivity is a big part of FiOS TV, and you can expect to see more in 2012.
