In case you missed it this week, there was more news that TV is no longer a passive experience, even for the most dedicated couch potatoes.
While some industry executives debated whether or not viewers are cutting the cord, Verizon FiOS gave subscribers more ways to enjoy content on their own schedules and devices.
Earlier in the week, ESPN made its WatchESPN mobile service available on Android devices. The app gives subscribers live access to ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3.com on Android phone and mobile devices. FiOS TV subscribers who get ESPN’s linear networks as part of their subscriptions can download the app at the Android Market. ESPN Goal Line and ESPN Buzzer Beater will also be available on WatchESPN when those networks are in season. The free app launched to iPad, iPhone and iPod touch in April.
Also this week, Verizon added Comedy Central to its expanding FiOS TV Online lineup. With FiOS TV Online, you have the convenience of watching TV shows and movies on your computer or laptop – at home or away – using any broadband connection. You access the programming at www.verizon.com/fiostvonline using your Verizon Online user name and password.
Now you can watch archived online episodes of “The Daily Show,” “The Colbert Report,” “SouthPark” and other Comedy Central favorites. The Comedy Central shows join other FiOS TV Online content from ESPN, CNN, TNN, Cartoon Network and Nick, to name a few.
Oh, yeah, you can still enjoy all these networks and hundreds more on the flat screen in your living room, if that’s your preference.
