by Employee on ‎03-01-2010 09:51 AM

foxsoccer.JPGHold onto your shin guards for this one, soccer fans; Fox Soccer Plus is now a part of Verizon FiOS TV's channel line up.

Starting today, channel 1009, which formerly carried Setanta Sports, will become Fox Soccer Plus.  Setanta Sports will no longer broadcast in the United States.  For just $14.99/month, Fox Soccer Plus features coverage of the best soccer in the world, including action from the Barclays Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Serie A.  Fox Soccer Plus also features top matches from the FA Cup, the Coca-Cola Championship, the Carling Cup and England's Men's National team.

More of a rugby fan? The channel also offers premium rugby matches from the Magners League, the Guinness Premiership and the Heineken Cup, among other competitions.

FiOS TV customers who have been getting Setanta Sports will automatically have their subscription transferred to Fox Soccer Plus.  Not yet getting all this soccer action?  Sign up for this international sports channel by tuning to channel 1009 and clicking OK on the remote control.

You won't miss a match with Fox Soccer Plus. What teams are you rooting for? Be sure to let us know here.

Bobbi,

This is great news. As a prior Setanta subscriber I was given this channel automatically and I am very happy with that, but what gives? Fox Soccer Plus is an HD channel. Why am I only getting it in standard def????

tcaruso,

Glad to hear that you're happy to get Fox Soccer Plus.  We aren't providing it in HD at this time, but we are looking to add it in the future.

I am a Rugby fan primarily, I am glad someone stepped up to show Rugby when Setanta was no longer available, of course the old Fox sports world showed Rugby before,

My question is: why are the Super 14 rugby games not being broadcast?

and are there plans to show the remaining Six Nations Rugby games?

nooski,

We're glad that  rugby fans like you will be able to see matches on Fox Soccer Plus, but we don't know Fox's plans for broadcasting additional rugby games.  Unless one of our other readers has some information, you might try submitting your questions at the Fox Soccer Web site.

Bobbi, you know I love FIOS but don't tease us!!! Is there an actual timeframe to add FSC and FSC plus in HD??? - you know that us soccer fans are insane and Dish network already has it!

i'm glad to see more soccer options coming to TV in the states, but not in HD? Please add HD for this channel, it will be worth the 15$ again.

This channel is just fleecing the customers...I was getting 2-3 Series A soccer games a week with the FSC.  Now they have moved the big games to FSC Plus so that I have to pay 15 a month to see what I already had...

Example: today Roma vs Inter basically a match to decide the title. Is on FSC+.  These big matches were always on FSC.

Not to mention neither are HD...  Not Happy with this.
