For the sixth year in a row, Verizon’s FiOS Internet service has earned top billing from PCMag.com readers in its annual Reader’s Choice Award for Internet service providers.
Not only did FiOS Internet earn the highest overall rating, an 8.8 compared to the average 6.9 score in the survey, but Verizon’s flagship consumer broadband service also secured the highest satisfaction scores for speed, 8.8, reliability, 9.1, and the highest likelihood of being recommended, 9.0, out of a possible 10 points.
In contrast, the second highest rated ISP score for speed was a 7.7; the second highest rated ISP for reliability earned an 8.3; and the second highest rating for likelihood of being recommended was an 8.7.
We appreciate the recommendation from PCMag.com readers whom we know are highly knowledgeable, technologically savvy and deservedly demanding when it comes to the performance of their ISP.
Much of what differentiates FiOS Internet from cable-modem based service is our all fiber-optic network. Of the two dozen fiber-, cable, digital subscriber line-, wireless- and satellite-based ISPs evaluated by PCMag.com readers, fiber-based providers far surpassed all other competitors. Many cable companies like to say they operate the same type of robust all fiber-optic network as we do, but their efforts continue to be thwarted by national advertising watchdogs who want to ensure consumers are told the truth.
Only Verizon has invested in the kind of advanced network that deliversAmerica’s fastest, most consistent and most reliable Internet service. Here’s what behind this claim:
Fastest -- Last year, we introduced our 150 Mbps FiOS Internet service that represents our fastest speed atop other offerings that include our wildly popular 25/25 Mbps speed tier that is bundled with voice and FiOS TV service. Verizon has pioneered this kind of innovative symmetrical speed offering because we recognize that the Internet is highly interactive and speedy uploads are now just as important as fast downloads. And, as more households use Internet connections with multiple devices – meaning stepped-up demands are being placed upon networks – it’s more important than ever that consumers have the kind of speed and network capacity that FiOS provides.
Most consistent – The survey results further affirm what our customers tell us all the time: using FiOS Internet means fewer outages and delays even during the most active hours of broadband use between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. on weekdays.
Most reliable – Of all consumers who participated in the PCMag.com survey, half reported needing to have some technical support with their broadband Internet service provider. However, only 29 percent – the lowest percentage among all ISPs rated – said they needed technical support with FiOS Internet.
Do we get tired of these types of third party compliments from users of our service? Are you kidding? We’re humbled, honored and pleased to offer an Internet experience that remains second to none because our 100% fiber-optic technology is truly a network ahead.
