Tennis Anyone? USTA Open Coverage Starts Saturday in 3D on FiOS TV

by Employee ‎09-02-2011 10:49 AM - edited ‎09-02-2011 10:49 AM

Delivering on bringing the best in viewing to FiOS TV customers is something we do everyday.  The Labor Day Weekend is no exception as tennis aficionados everywhere can tune into the US Open.  Nadal, Djokovic, Sharapova and Petrova are among the center court players that can be seen playing in 3D as their slams and spins land on Verizon FiOS1 Channel 1003.

3D TV is an evolving medium for sporting and entertainment events and sales of 3D sets are growing rapidly.  Last year was the first year that the US Open offered a 3D broadcast. FiOS TV also brought  subscribers the first NFL 3D football game during the 2010 pre-season, the first 3D televised college football game, as well as ESPN 3D sporting events over the past year.

So, if you have a 3D TV, check out the US Open in 3D this weekend and, if you don’t have a 3D TV, that’s okay because ESPN will cover the Open and we’ve got you covered anywhere you are with ESPN on FiOS TV Online.  So take your pick – watch tennis center court as the world’s tennis titans serve up there best at speeds of up to 155 mph!

Consult the Channel 1003 on-screen guide for the schedule of 3D coverage on  during these hours in the week ahead:

This is great, but if you want to watch 2D Coverage on The Tennis Channel, you'll have to find another TV service provider, Verizon dropped it in the middle of the U.S. Open over a contract dispute.

Tennis Channel provides content and charges advertisers.

Verizon delivers content and charges viewers.

Neither the advertisers nor the viewers is getting what they paid for at this point.  Shame on you Verizon.  You should refund a portion of your customers' monthly bills for dropping this service from your packages.
