The 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games on FiOS TV

by Employee ‎01-14-2010 10:11 AM - edited ‎01-14-2010 01:05 PM

speedskate.JPGI'm counting down: 29 days until the Winter Olympics begin.  And I'm excited.  I can't wait to watch Apolo Ohno race and possibly become the most decorated American at the Winter Games.  My FiOS TV DVR will be set for the women's figure skating - especially if Sasha Cohen makes the team.  And there's always the fun of trying to figure out exactly how the sport of curling actually works.

If you're lucky like me, you are a FiOS customer, which means you'll get a whole lot more than just watching the Olympics on your TV set.  We'll get everything from live coverage in HD; to an on-screen interactive application with medal counts, athlete bios, news and more; to highlight clips, full events and more online and on Video on Demand.  By the way, there's already a bunch of cool Olympics stuff to watch on demand, with things like trivia, a countdown to Vancouver, and a chance to explore Canada's Olympic park in Calgary.

So, when Feb. 12 rolls around, make sure you have your TV set to one of the channels carrying Olympics content this year.  They include NBC, USA and CNBC - all in SD and HD - as well as Universal and MSNBC.  (All of our New York customers will have access to MSNBC during Olympic coverage.)

With 15 different sports, 86 medal events and 2,500 competing athletes (including over 250 Americans), we have a lot to look forward to - and FiOS will be right there to give you the best possible viewing experience.

Is that going to include customers in Northern New Jersey?

ninny21,

Yes.  In fact, we announced today (Jan. 28) that our customers in NY and NJ who previously couldn't get MSNBC on FiOS TV will be able to get it full time beginning in February.  See today's Verizon at Home blog for more details.

Thanks for the reply, Bobbi.

I see the channel now, but no HD channel for MSNBC? Isn't Verizon's niche all about delivering the best HD experience? With the Olymipc game around the corner, it would be a shame to not be able to watch them in HD.

Hi, we just released our "Alarmania Vancouver Editon" for Android smartphones. You can wake up with a live picture of a webcam in Vancouver or Whistler. Everything is highly customizable - build your own alarm screen via drag'n'drop - more details on www.lsapplications.com

How do I access the "interactive" stuff like medal counts etc. on my TV?
