Three years after FiOS TV in New Jersey

by Employee on ‎12-08-2009 03:20 PM

jersey.PNGIn December 2006, Verizon began deploying fiber optics in New Jersey to bring FiOS TV and all the great features that come with it to residents statewide.  Now, three years later, Verizon FiOS is available in more New Jersey municipalities than are served by any other company offering subscription television.

In fact, Verizon is actively building the FiOS system in dozens of communities and in major cities in other states including Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and New York City.  The project continues to be the leading telecommunications development project in the United States.

As we announced today, Verizon is now adding three more NJ municipalities to the FiOS TV roster: New Brunswick, in Middlesex County; Hamilton Township, in Atlantic County; and Middle Township, in Cape May County.  That brings the number of New Jersey towns, cities and communities where FiOS is available to 348.  Neither Comcast nor Cablevision serves so many.

In just three short years since the shovels first hit the Garden State soil to lay fiber, we've made it a priority to make the innovative FiOS TV and Internet services available to as many residents as possible. FiOS TV customers in New Jersey have been happily embracing more than 138 HD channels, 600 all-digital channels and all the other great services like Multi-Room DVR and interactive WidgetsFiOS Internet customers are speeding along the Web with speeds up to 50Mbps/20Mbps.

Adding to that, Verizon has also made public education and government programming available to more than 200  New Jersey municipalities, launched the innovative FiOS 1 local information channel, and made FiOS TV available to more than 150,000 multiple dwelling units (condos, apartment complexes).

Long story short, New Jersey is the perfect example of the kinds of deployment commitments Verizon is willing to step up to. We're working hard to not only follow-through with our promises, but also go above and beyond, just as we've done in the three years we've offered TV service in NJ.

Is there any news on when FIOS will actually be available in New Brunswick, NJ?  I have been checking availability for months and even called the 888 number, but all they told me was I'll be notified when it becomes available.

Is availability in New Brunswick, NJ actually real?

I am a recent Fios TV Customer from Salem Nj.. I just relocated and had to regretfully switch back to Comcast.. Which is a total humiliation because Fios Tv is not available in  woodland Condominiums Mays landing NJ 08330.. Since the nightmare has token place I have been tormented with the worst service ever provided by Comcast.. Do anyone know when Fios will make it to this location? I am hurting over here.. and I am sure when they do advance to this locations they will have a %60-%70 turn over rate simply because Both TV service which is Comcast and Direct TV suck.. and with all the trees around a satellite is despicable.
