Over the remainder of the month of June -- National Internet Safety Month -- Verizon will continue to work to raise cyber safety awareness among our customers and the public in general.
In addition to webinars, such as the one focusing on Internet safety for seniors to be held June 28, Verizon and the Verizon Parental Control Center is joining the National Cyber Security Alliance to host a Twitter Party beginning at 3 p.m. this Wednesday (June 27). Expert advice from the NCSA and others will be interspersed with prize giveaways.
Those wishing to participate and become eligible as a possible prize winner during the hour-long event should RSVP by clicking here or by following this link: http://bit.ly/Ll35kL.
Some interesting research results reported by the NCSA in their June 11 news release related to Internet Safety Month:
Less than half of the U.S. population (46%) reports that they feel safe from viruses, malware and hackers while roughly half (48%) of parents are not completely confident that their kids can use the Internet safely -- (http://www.staysafeonline.org/in-the-home/research

The NCSA also offers up these tips as part of its StopThinkConnect campaign:
1) STOP: Before using the Internet, take time to understand the risks and learn how to spot potential problems.
2) THINK: Take a moment to be certain the path ahead is clear. Watch for warning signs and consider how your actions online could impact your safety, your kids’ safety or that of your family.
3) CONNECT: Enjoy the Internet with greater confidence, knowing you’ve taken the right steps to safeguard yourself, your family and your computer.
