Hey FiOS TV customers in New York and New Jersey!  If you're looking for Rachel Maddow, look no further than Verizon FiOS TV.  Want your Morning Joe?  Well, now we've got it.  I'm happy to announce today that Verizon can now distribute MSNBC to all of our customers in the entire New York and New Jersey area!

As many of our readers know, we've been offering MSNBC throughout the rest of our footprint, even in parts of the NYC-metro area.  But we've been unable to do so in parts of the region - until now.

MSNBC will be available on FiOS TV channel 103 on Feb. 2 in New York and by Feb. 11 in New Jersey. 

Has the MSNBC issue kept you from ordering FiOS?  Well, now there's no reason not to - with interactive features like our Facebook and Twitter Widgets, FiOS Internet speeds of up to 50 Mbps downstream and 35 Mbps upstream, and channel variety that cable can't match, including - of course - MSNBC.  Verizon's FiOS has you covered.

Update: MSNBC will be available to all FiOS TV customers in New York and New Jersey on Feb. 2.

It's not mentioned in the above article, but I assume HD MSNBC will be on channel 603, right?

We're happy to be able to bring MSNBC to all our customers in the New York metro area.  The HD channel will come later.

Can you comment on new HD additions in the near-term? It seems as if it is always "will come later", or "we'll let you know", or some other answer.

Other providers (Comcast, etc.) are touting their HD additions right now, while with FIOS TV it's always been like the recipe for KFC....a secret that can't even be discussed.

IMO it would be a marketing benefit for VZ to communicate and tout future HD additions.

Comcast may be talking about new HD, but that's only because they've been so far behind FiOS.  Our FiOS TV customers have been getting over 100 HD channels since 2008, and today we offer up to 138 HD channels in all our markets, plus more than 2,800 HD video-on-demand titles every month.  Rest assured, we're always looking at new content for FiOS.  But, we never discuss negotiations and wouldn't want to make promises to you and other customers until we have secure dates for when new channels are coming your way.  Continue to watch the Verizon at Home blog for news about new content.

It's nice to be able to watch MSNBC on my TV again, BUT --

 1) no program information? really? I can't even make it a favorite and have to keep all the channels on the guide to see it.

     -- which leads me to another Verizon TV problem -- channel 30 is not simply Local Programming -- it's CUNY TV, as in the City University of New York. It has a proper schedule, educational & news programs, and serious arts programming, including great movies & interesting dicussions about them over the weekends. You guys are clearly not New Yorkers. Get it together, please.

2) MSNBC looks squashed. Please fix it.

We haven't heard about any issues with MSNBC picture quality or MSNBC program information in the FiOS TV guide.  If you're still having problems, you can try rebooting your set-top box.  Just go to Menu>Help>In-Home Agent>Reboot STB.  Press ok with your remote control, and the set-top box will automatically turn off and come back on again.  Also, thank you for the feedback about CUNY TV; I've sent it along to the FiOS TV team.
