Shivani: I regret to inform you that there is some temporary maintainence going on for Verizon Central. I would like to inform you that there is an outage on the Verizon server due to which you will be unable to access folders and emails on Verizon, Engineers are aware of the issue and are working toward resolution and the issue will be taken care of as soon as possible. We highly anticipate and appreciate your kind cooperation in this regard.
Shivani: It will get fixed with in 2-3 hours.

Two to three hours from when?  It has been out since 4:30 EST - it is now 8:50 pm EST.

I don't think this is "maintenance".  Given that it's the entire authentication infrastructure (because it affected all signons that relied on the Verizon.net base userid / password), it must have been a server or datacenter outage somewhere.   This stuff should be redundent -- but I'm thinking the guy in charge of "testing" that capability has suddenly found himself having a bad day.

looks like the webmail is trying to connect.

to make matters worse, when I call in for tech support, I got hung up on before I even get a chance to make a selection (one time, it took me to the Spanish section).

I am having the same issue.  I just switched to FiOS on Friday, so I thought that it was just me having issues accessing my email at work, since I'd never done it before.  If you figure out what is going on, please post!

I have a little more detail, but not much.  I can access subaccounts, but not a main account.  This is evidently as systemwide issue now.  It took 30 min or so to get through to get a standard ' it should be fixed within 48 hours'.  I tried to give detail on what I found, but it seemed to go in a 'circular file'. 

 

This goes for webmail or via a mobile device as well as via outlook.  Seems like there is a significant issue that warrants a posting on their main page, but I haven't seen it.;

I have not been able to find anyone at Verizon residential phone or Internet, nor Verizon Wireless, that has had a clue about anything. I've been having various issues across the board for too too long now.

 

Apparently Verizon keeps their employees just as much in the dark as their customers.

 

I'm in NJ, and have not been able to access webmail at all since around 4 or 4:30 p.m. EDT. Of course, I've had other complaints about not being able to access the "new email" at all since it was apparently rolled out a couple of weeks ago. I can't even get the old "rich interface," and the basic interface is nearly useless. For example, you can't forward an HTML email, at least not retaining the formatting.

 

Ugh. I'm seriously looking at all other options for all my Internet and telecom needs.
