The basic question is... Why would anyone even use the web mail in the first place. If you dont like it, dont use it. Plain and simple. Just get a pop email client. Windows has one built in and there are many FREE programs available to everyone. Set one up and do away with all the time outs, ads, and other hassles. And the email programs can be be customized to your likes.

I generally agree with this view. And I personally use a client -Windows Live Mail. But I do use the Verizon webmail interface to manage SPAM on my accounts, I have them set to automatically put SPAM in a SPAM folder that I then check once or twice a day since occasionally the SPAM filter will treat legitimate emails as SPAM.
I recently put together a presentation for our community computer club on "web vs. client" issues. I have extracted a subset of the slides from that presentation (the various examples I showed for each had personal info that I do not want to post on the web so those slides have been removed) and attached it below.
I don't know if this will help anyone or not, but maybe?????

I have no problem with the new E mail format when it is working correctly. I can view my E mail in full page view by clicking on "view in another window" I think maybe you should ask a tech to look at yours, I had a day or two when that option was not available for some reason, but now it is working fine. I believe that it may depend on wnich server you are on. There does seem to be several versions of the new mail for some reason. There are a couple of techs on this forum who have been very helpful to me. Perhaps, they will see your message and help you as well.

I agree. I have switched to Gmail and have made Google my home page, my son switched to Yahoo and made Yahoo his home page, so clearly this is not a gender specific issue. I am over Verizon and their constant changes that never seem to be more efficient, but rather less. Who ever is running this department needs to be put on a growth plan. The new email is sloppy, and it seems to take forever to load. I have my TV, phone, cell phone, and internet with Verizon. I will not upgrade my cell phone(s) because this summer I will be switching everything over to AT&T. In addition, I will be selling all of my shares of Verizon and purchase AT &T stocks. Actions speak louder than words.

Way back when I found that Verizon insisted that I have a dot (.) in my user name I chooses to not use their email and switched to gmail. If Verizon wants to communicate with me they have to do it my way, and because one has to login so many places not all of them have figured this out yet.
BOY, and is their spell checker ever lame. When it comes to computers and Internet Verizon is years behind, Do they pay very poorly? Or, is management terribly ignorant?

Personally, I would never switch back to google mail. I think it is terrible. Right now, they are having their own E mail problems. Also don't like the way they they track every thing their user do.
I guess we all have our preferences, but I doubt if any of the providers lose much sleep over the loss of a customer.![]()

I am terribly frustrated with this yahoo e-mail format. If you have a myspace account, there are a lot of scammers with yahoo accounts that will try to scam you from Africa for some money. I had one that after 2 months of communication, I found out was a scammer. I got fooled for a while.
I deleted his butt out of my contacts but it will not allow me to delete him out of my yahoo messenger...saying he is still in my contacts so could not be deleted or blocked.
I tried to e-mail verizon--HAHA! there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH VERIZON LANDLINE AND INTERNET and the contract will be up next year and I will not renew with them unless they have a miraculous customer service recovery. They sent all of their customer service reps to India...and so did Norton Anti-Virus but they are easier to get resolution than Verizon.
I am so disgusted that I can not find out how to remove that Nigerian scammer from my contacts I wish to scream! The information given for Yahoo does not work with the new e-mail format!!!!

You can change your inbox layout in the Settings portion of Message Center. It may partially address your concerns. You can also type in the To: field the name of the person and it will bring up a list of possible email address for you to select from. I hope this helps!

I absoutely HATE THE NEW EMAIL format It is very USER UNFRIENDLY and wastes a lt of my time because it is so inefficent.
1 - It frequenty stalls out when I try & delete an email.
2 - I miss the button that was at the upper right that you could click to advance to the next page/screen of the list of emails.
3 - When I sort the list of emails by "sender" & try to read them one by one deleting as I go, the system goes thru the sorted list for 2 emails and then it reverts to the original list (sorted by date) when it brings up the next email. I never had this problem with the old system, which would take me thru the sorted list until I got to the end.
4 - Everything is a different shade of gray, making things difficult to read, especially the headers of the emails that have already been opened.
5 - I never had trouble reading emails with the old system, but now the font is too small. i've tried changing the font type & point sizes under "settings" , but it doesn't seem to help.
6 - The window is wat too small when reading opened emails. It's about 25% of of the size it used to be.
I resent being forced to switch to the new email system, which is inferior to the old system in 99% of the aspects. If it ain't broke broke, don't fix it. I want my old email back! I hate the new system so much I am ready to switch back to AT&T.
