Spec: new iPhone problemS w/Verizon

Two things are disturbing my service, and I cannot find any hints at where to find a solution to either, online. And Verizon's own phone is clogged.

First, I have attempted during the past week to send out photos I've taken with the phone; or comments I make to emails I have received. They are stuck in my inbox with an un-understandable error message:

UNABLE TO SEND EMAIL

A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipient {edited for privacy} was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying.

But {edited for privacy} is not the recipient, I'm the sender .?!?!?!???!

Second, I cannot find a reasonable way to delete the hundreds of mails on Verizon's server, so every time I log in, I get hundreds dumped onto my phone. I have already gone one-by-one to get rid of over 1,200 on my phone, only to find another 300+ dumped on there this morning.

What can I do?

I have the almost same 1st problem as you with my wife's new IPhone 5s (ios 7.04) after I set up her mail.  Whenever she sends an email she gets an error message to the effect that the "mail was blocked because the recipient (her email address) was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying.  The email was placed in the outbox,".  First of all, she isn't mailing the message to herself as cc or bcc.  Second, the email is actually sent anyway and the outbox is empty.

Re: How delete over 20,000 old emails messages easily?

To delete all of your messages from your inbox, go to the settings tab, and then go down to "Number of messages per page" and set it to "No limit". Hit "Save" at the top and then hit OK when it asks you to refresh your browser. Then in your inbox, check the box that is to the left of "Sender" and hit delete. It will take a long time if you have that many messages, but it'll get done. Cheers!

I have the same message on my iPhone 4S. This has only been a problem of maybe the last 2or 3 weeks. I find that I cannot forward emails to my wife using my Verizon email. How can I fix this?

Normally the outbound SMTP server has to be provided by the email provider, other wise if your email domain name is not part of the domain that the SMTP server recognizes as its own, it will not accept your mail for delivery.

You have to use your account to authenticate to the outbound SMTP server before it will accept your email for delivery. They do that to avoid spamers using their servers to send spam.

For example:

For my verizon.net account, I use smtp.verizon.net (port 465 with SSL on and password authentication).

For my gmail account, I use smtp.gmail.com (port 465 with SSL on and password authentication).

They all work just fine.
