With the technology that fios uses(networking the router with the set top boxes) there should be a lot more data capabilities, at least with the 500G DVR. A simple application and an installed web cam is all you need to video chat. I mean, imagine watching TV and a message pops up in the corner "video chat request from John Doe-Accept or Deny" All you guys have to do is utilize the technology you already have. You guys waste your time with all of those useless widgets! How about expanding it, more like an app store and having way more variety there for the consumer. Have a home page with apps when you turn on your TV. I can choose fios TV or Pandora or Netflix, etc. Oh BTW, why is there no Netflix widget? How a bout an internet browser? Give us more data interaction with the TV so fios can really set itself above the competitors!

That would be pretty cool... I think? As long I as I could I could set up a Do not disturb when watching my favorite shows. Happy to hear you want FiOS to be above the competitors. I will pass your ideas on to the proper teams. Keep the ideas coming.

Youtube

Please oh please don't remove the Youtube widget.  When there's 'nothing' to watch, there's always something with this option.  I realize you may be renegotiating contracts and you/they may want to discontinue the relationship, or costs/licensing may be a factor, but I love this option. There is wonderful content available anytime I want something different, especially when it comes to classic film.  I am particularly a fan of anything in black and white. Please don't take my Youtube away!

Protect wireless security settings

With the ability to check my wireless Security settings from my STB ("My Wireless Network")! Anyone who has a remote control can see my user name and password, meaning that anyone who comes into my house can easily get my security settings and do who knows what on my network.  The fact that this "feature" is not protected in any way (ie. parental controls password), is unbelievable.  I would like to see is function protected in some way or be able to be disabled completely.

baseball widget

Status: Acknowledged
by ourscreenname on ‎04-29-2013 11:29 AM

Up until near the end of April, the scoreboard on the baseball widget listed the days in reverse order. If you wanted to see the score from two days prior, you only needed to scroll through two days worth of scores. Somewhere around April 24, the scores began to be listed in calendar order. If, on May 1, you want to check a score from April 30, you will have to scroll through every day since the beginning of the season. Why can't the scores be kept in reverse order throughout the season? Most people will be looking for a fairly recent game, not the first few games of the season. I hope the reverse-order scoreboard can be reinstated even for the remainder of this year. Thanks.

Wireless Keyboard - dongle in USB port

Since you offer Facebook as a Widget, please create a way to have a USB transmitter link to a wireless keyboard, or a reaaaally looooooooooong cord for a wired keyboard, so I can access Facebook in a more traditional manner. (Thanks, lacticacidtrip!)

I see how that could be useful. I will pass this on. Thanks for the suggestion.

Interactive guide made quicker and easier

Status: Acknowledged
by jimmystick27 on ‎01-27-2013 07:33 PM

I submitted this idea to comscat when I worked there in 2005, they said the technology wasn't there, so maybe you can use it.

The idea is the option to search channels by genre i.e.:  sports channels will be in their own folder, women TV will be in another, movie channels will be in another and so on and so forth.  This will really enhance the interactive guide and make searching for the exact channels you are looking for a whole lot easier.  No more having to remember where your channels are in the guide, just select the genre your channel would be in like the science channel would be in science and technology.  That simple, and on top of that your customers will see those channels that they would have never known they had.  I know with comcast there were at least 6 channels that I had no idea I had, with the genre searching there will be no more channels hiding in the far reaches of the guide.

I know if Verizon had the genre based guide feature I would use it all the time, and maybe the rest of the Verizon community.  Im not saying replace the current guide with this, just enhance the guide with this feature.

Well that's my idea I hope you like it.

Please Add Symbols

Status: Acknowledged
by andrei23 on ‎01-11-2013 03:18 AM

When working with text entry fields on most FiOS TV widgets, there is a button to change from letters to symbols - however on the text entry screen for logging into the Pandora wudget, this button is strangely absent.  Shucks... my e-mail address has a minus ( - ), and thus I have no way to access tthe Pandora account I already pay for on my TV and Hi-Fi system.  :smileysad:

Please consider adding a symbols button, or at least the most rudimentary symbols to the log-in screen of Pandora and any other widgets which might not have it.  Thanks!

There needs to be a 1-click method to getting to our widgets--basically, a Widget version of the channel favorites. In addition--or by way of doing this--let us delete the default widgets that appear in the scroll.

What's the point in decreeing we can't delete the default widgets? Does Verizon think that if we're forced to have the Horoscope widget there, we'll eventually give in and look at it? If you want to put in certain ones by default, fine, but let us customzie them. The user should be able to put the Widgets they desire into the screentop scroll, and ONLY the ones they desire.

we know Pandora is not available everywhere. We know what we need to do to finish the deployment. We're in the process of doing it. It has taken a bit longer than we would have liked, but we will be there 'soon'.

Disable TV Pop-ups

Status: Launched
by Sworl on ‎01-04-2011 10:27 AM

Please don't add annoying pop-ups to my tv picture - or at the very least give me the option to disable them.  I don't care that CNN is available on Twitter (I already follow them) and if I want to go to Twitter, I will.  I don't need to be reminded, and I don't want to have to proactively cancel the pop-up.

Thank you.

To be fair this is about to launch... getting update in the system now...

Widget Suggestions

1. Update Widgets to properly support wide-screen.  Hint: The sun and moon in weather widgets should NOT look like an oval.

2. Let users add/remove widgets that appear when pressing the Widget button on the remote.

3. Let user set a default widget to appear when pressing the Widget button.

Delete unwanted channels

Status: Not Likely
by user54321 on ‎04-19-2012 05:50 AM

It would be fantastic to be able to DELETE unwanted channels from the TV listing, DVR…..

I know there is a favorites menu which is terrible, awful, dreadful to use, I also know there is a subscribe option in the TV listing which lists all the channels I do not want or care for.

I just want to be able to go into a menu where I can delete unwanted channels from all views .

It’s very simple to do and it’s called programing.

please try the offered suggestions, which should meet your needs in a flexible way.

Widget that  will tell u the lottery numbers for that day

In the 'FiOS Mobile Remote' app for Android devices (on the Google Nexus 7 tablet), the login credentials are not being recognized, and the pairing of the remote on the app with the set top box (in conjunction with the 'FiOS Mobile Remote' TV widget) is not working.

The 'FiOS Mobile Remote' app is also a component of the 'My FiOS' app for Android devices.

The rest of the components of the 'My FiOS' app for Android seem to be working fine.

Please see this forum thread for details:

Thank you!

Built in Linux Web Browser for STB and DVR. Plus new remote option.

Status: Acknowledged
by All Star prisaz All Star ‎04-30-2012 06:44 PM - edited ‎04-30-2012 06:52 PM

Email and Web at your TV? I believe someone tried Web TV and it did not go well. But this could be different.

Now if Verizon were to have a browser in the STB which is possible since it is Linux based. I would go for that, and a slide out keyboard on the remote, with a mouse that would move based on positioning of the remote. Not like the TiVO remote but different. Don't want anymore time in court. There are many open source browsers that could be used. Sell the remote as an option, but don't charge for the browser use. Verizon would have a feature that other providers don't. Now let's see if Verizon can do it before Tivo or someone else. I don't think anyone has it in a STB or DVR.

Perhaps this could be a Widget Plug in, so a new img would not be required?

I'll make sure this idea gets in front of the proper team within Verizon.
