Watching DVR or TV channels on a PC

Status: Under Review
by wdp on ‎01-13-2013 07:09 AM

I would love to have the ability to watch my DVR shows on my PC like I could with Direct TV.  Making it easier to see live TV on a PC would be nice also. Thats something Verizon should be trying to do.

Make the Wifi remote work without needing to go out on the Verizon network and back.

PLEASE

We need this just to work locally.

The app seems like the remote DVR, where it goes out to Verizon servers and then back you your STB. Why not IP to the router Wifi and then directly to the box. Not to Verizon and back to a gateway not found error. Or STB/DVR not communicating.

Just like the PC remote program that I asked for that could be loaded on your work station or laptop that uses Wifi or hardwired ethernet and would be direct from your computer to the STB or DVR. A user could sit at the couch and do searches with a full size PC, or laptop size keyboard. This would even take load off of the Verizon servers.

Why should Wifi not have a local connect feature where it does not require to be routed through Verizon's servers?

If WiFi is the standard for you, make it work without going out to the Verizon network and back. I tried my iPhone and it did not work without connecting to the verizon network, even though I entered the correct number provided on the screen.

All the apps or programs act like your are tring to do everything from outside your house from another State. NO it should be a simple thing for it to go IP through the router straight to the box. All you would need for the local option is to add the STB ID number and code to scan the local network for the ID. Bing you have it and everyone that wants a local RF remote would have it with just a tweek of your code.

Not part of your media software, but the remote software offered for the phones that could be used via wifi. And if possible the same program compiled for a PC..

This would also allow you to have two boxes sitting side by side and controlled seperately. Where the IR remote does not.

Windows 8 / Windows Phone 8 support

Now that Verizon Wireless is all on Windows Phone 8, will Verizon reconsider doing Windows Phone apps.  With a shared kernel, you could do Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 apps for FiOS with some shared code.

Or you could open up the API and let us write our own apps.  Twitter got alot of early adoption by having an open API.

Can you PLEASE give us the ability to modify scheduled recordings through the Internet site & the Fios Remote app?

It appears that the only way you can modify a recording (ie - set it to stop recording 5 minutes later, or record ONLY the first run episodes) is at the DVR. This does not help someone who is on the go and wants to set up a modified recording from their office on the computer, or on their mobile device.

I would like to all OSes on your platform to get equal treatment.   All OSes should have access to in house app directed toward services you provide (dvr app).  You service a Variety of customer that have different taste.  Why should one customers get privileges over another that has mirroring services based on the OS they choose? I would also like to see your sale reps use the same energy to sale every OS, and Verizon give every OS a fair start out the gate.   There have been countless time when I went to a  Verizon store to check out a phone other than Android, and phone had either no internet service, was not charged, or was not on display.  That makes it hard for a customer to make informed decision.

Why does the iPad APP not stream local channels?

Status: In Progress
by deemota on ‎03-18-2013 04:27 PM

Makes no sense to me since the cable channels it streams are so limited, then why can't we have local channels? FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS. Seema like a big miss here.

Today's FIOS Mobile for iPad app, indeed delivers 75 national channels. Good news is that we've got plans in motion to enhance with Locals, so stay tuned...

Extend TV end time with FIOS app remote on andriod

this is very important to football games especially, heck other sports as well.  i know this is possible with DVR remote (at my house) but what if i am not at my house?

Status: Acknowledged
good point.

It's wonderful to be able to record shows using the Verizon My FIOS mobile app on my iPhone. Since I enjoy recording sports, it is very frustrating to not be able to use the "extend time" feature which is available when recording at home.  Please add this feature to the mobile app! Thank you.

Currently most of your apps only work for android mobile devices.  Is their a reason these apps are not available on adroid tablets as well?

The Fios DVR app for motorola xoom should have the same functionality as the iPad app. The android version doesn't support landscape on the xoom, and the remote control doesn't work at all. Also, on the iPad app, you can change channels from the guide. It doesn't work on the xoom. Given the amount of time that's passed, and the amount of money we've invested, it's very surprising to me that we don't have this functionality for the xoom yet.

we are working on improvements to our android apps. because they use different technology than the Apple (iOS) apps, they are on a different timeline.

Manage telephone answering service from the web or downloadable program or app!

It would be great if I can see a list of messages I have on my answering service and quickly listen too them to determine if its important or can be deleted. Rather than staying on the phone waiting for the date and time and phone number and options and its been deleted and a lot of other machine talk.

With FiOS Digital Voice you can manage your calls and voice mail on the web at verizon.com/fiosvoice using your MyVerizon signin credentials. .We also have a mobile app under "Verizon FiOS Digital Voice" for Droids. We hope to have for iOS in the future. You can also modify your FDV voice mail so it doesn't play the time & date for each message and set for expert prompts to shorten prompt verbiage.

Remote DVR for Blackberry OS 7.

Status: Not Likely
by on ‎12-06-2011 07:02 AM

Is there plans to develop a new remote DVR for Blackberry OS 7? This was working perfectly on prior OS. Thanks

this was posted here initially but VZ employee moved it to a forum, then another VZ employee said I should post it here!

Status: Not Likely
We develop and maintain apps on a wide variety of CE devices and prioritize that work based on their popularity and which ones show up in our logs as the ones using our services most frequently. Based on those metrics Blackberry is very far down the priority list, to the point where we do not allocate development resources to develop new sw or update our existing apps as new OS versions become available. We understand BlackBerry is an awesome business tool, and that BB owners can be fantastically loyal, but we (relatively) rarely see Blackberry owners use or ask for our applications. As a result, I doubt you will see the Remote DVR update you are looking for anytime soon, if at all.
