fios tv -- houston

Status: Maybe Later
by kimmik on ‎01-23-2011 06:56 PM

I'm fairly certain I already know the answer to this, but is there any chance FiOS TV will be coming my way any time soon? I mean, I know the economy's not so great (although it's making a come back; I can feel it), but seriously, Houston? It's only the nation's 4th largest city! I love verizon. My cell is through them, my FiOS internet is through them, and I don't have a land line because I don't need one, but if I did, I'd go verizon. I hate my DirecTv (I know they are affiliated with verizon) and my contract is going to be up soon. My only other option here (besides Comcast, who I'm fairly certain just about everyone hates) is Dish. I don't hate Dish, but I'd soooo rather have FiOS TV. I'd even be willing to wait some time for FiOS TV, if only I could be reassured it's coming. I just can't believe a city as huge as we are doesn't have it yet, especially when smaller cities in Texas (Dallas/Ft Worth) do have it. It seems slightly backwards and somewhat illogical. I know most people in my area have verizon for internet/phone/wireless, and I'm pretty sure they'd be all over FiOS TV. So, is there any chance?... :smileysad:

PS -- I say Houston because it's simpler and it is the greater Houston Metro, but I actually live in League City.

We just launched a couple markets in 2010, like Palm Springs... but have no immediate plans for Houston.

Come up with a Standard $5.99 HD STB to replace the QIP-2500.

Come up with a Standard $5.99 HD STB to replace the QIP-2500 that sales told me is no longer being offered. What are your plans for customers that do not wish to pay $10 a box? You do have a plan right? Would have been nice to let the customers in on it before hand. I turned in 2 QIP-2500 boxes last month and wanted them back. MY SD TVs have no benefit from the 2 HD boxes. No luck. I guess as long as I keep your HM-DVR they are cheaper than otherwise.

Improved multi-factor authentication

Status: Maybe Later
by DaveK2 on ‎01-04-2011 07:10 AM

The My Verizon page just started using multi-factor authentication for access to the Account tab.  While that is a good idea in principle, the implementation is a pain - the PIN callback to the DSL phone line means that the user cannot perform any account actions while away from home.  (Allowing the user to specify a different callback number would defeat the authentication).

Please add an option to request multiple one-time-use PINs ("for another PIN, press 1") so that the user can create a pad of, for example, 10 PINs that could be used while working away from home.  The user would scratch each PIN off the list as it is used, and refill the list when back at home.

The PIN you are referring to is not a method of multi-factor authentication. All telephone providers are required to protect a customer’s proprietary network information from unauthorized access. When accessing your account information online, the PIN is used as a one-time tool to help us validate a user’s identity and bring the account from “limited” access to “full” access. Full access customers can see details about home phone service and bill details.

This PIN does expire if it is not successfully entered within a certain period of time.

Recently, with the migration of customers to a single user ID on the new MyVerizon 2.0, some customers may have had to go through this process again, depending on what mix of Verizon.com or Verizon.net accounts they previously had.

A PIN should not be necessary to log-in and we do not have plans to add multifactor authentication to MyVerizon at this time. If you have previously received and successfully activated full access with a PIN on your account and are still prompted to request and enter a PIN, please go to http://www22.verizon.com/content/ContactUs/ and get in touch with us.

Email Trash Sort Options

Status: Maybe Later
by JRD on ‎12-28-2010 12:55 PM

- Please add a choice to allow sorting in “Trash” to allow most recently deleted emails to be at the top of the stack.  If you delete an older email, it gets lost in the mess if you decide you want to look at it again, very difficult to find.

We will review this request vis a vis other customer driven requests.

DVR features

If I press Record in DVR, it should start recording from that point onwards instead of when I changed the channel .   Now it is impossible to record snippets of my favorite shows.

Also,we should be able to change the title in DVR. I record Jay Leno show every day and it would be nice if I can edit the name to more meaningful

I am with Justin on this one... but we should find a way to get snipets use case as described... The simple pop-up gets in the way of "one click" record that many, many customers want... so perhaps it should be an option in double tap record (which brings up recording options)

FIOS FOR NORTH SUFFOLK VA ZIP=23435

Status: Maybe Later
by dalder on ‎12-19-2010 09:57 AM

Why no Fios yet? Portsmouth, VA 1 mile away has it. Verizon has not even approached Suffolk Town officials for permission to offer service. Is this the end of the line for Fios??

We are building to more homes in cities that already have FiOS... in 2010 we added tons and tons of new houses... once we finish what is on the plate... I am sure we'll announce additional build, but for now there are still lots of building to do in existing cities / towns.

Smaller controller (STB) boxes

Status: Maybe Later
by sylstafford on ‎10-28-2010 12:13 PM

I am a reluctant Comcast customer.  I would like to change to FIOS but will not use the large boxes required by FIOS -- too big and clunky.  Also, Comcast has given me 3 std STB's and a HD STB for free each month.  I hope this feedback gets thru to the FIOS product management and marketing teams.

Our next step is to enable a wide variety of device you can just go to the store and buy act as set top boxes... so then you can have exactly what you want (other than the free part)

I would like to see pay per view, for the NFL season. Either pay per view of a single game of any of the 32 teams, or a season pass for a specific chosen team out of all 32. Also with any other sports, soccer, basketball, hockey, single game pay per view.

I only have on HD TV and everytime I schedule a recording I have to choose between either recording a show in HD and only be able to watch it on the one tv, or record it in SD to be able to watch in the other rooms. I would like record an episode in HD and if I decide latter to watch it in a different room be able to convert it to a format that the SD box can play.

This capability requires new equipment to make it happen. It is on the list for consideration as we look at future DVR's.

QWERTY Keyboard

Status: Maybe Later
by bjkaiser on ‎09-21-2010 08:09 AM

The features Verizon Fios offers are great, but using the remote is not so great.  I think adding a qwerty keyboard to the remote to make the features more user friendly is a necessity.  It is awkward and outdated to use the remote to access all the great features fios offers.

Having a keyboard would make things simpler.  Please consider this.

Thanks,

Beverly

Currently, we do not have any plans for investing in our remote.

Call Map

One thing I think would be neat is if My Verizon could use something like Google Maps and place a marker on all the destinations you've called from your landline phone. Useful- not really but I think it'd be a neat feature with some "cool" factor....

Please bring back  Weatherbug.    It was great, so handy and useful.    Why even put  it on the home page in the first place  just to remove it from us ???

Thank you for the input. This has been passed on to the appropriate team for possible consideration.

we don't like that you have to go back to cable either. here's hoping that things work out for the best and we can hook up with you again in the future.
