You are just one of MANY people who want to see this channel added. But that being said, the Sun will explode and Hell freeze over BEFORE Verizon adds this FREE channel.
Ok So now it is a duplicate. This has more votes, so where does that put us? Now that it is a duplicate with more votes, I suppose I agree with the previous post.
@prisaz - no, it's not a duplicate. That was my fault. I had another NASA request moved over into this one and I should have removed that status as it referred to the the newer NASA request and NOT this one.
I apologize for the confusion. The status of this request has not changed, as you can see directly under the original idea.
Thank you BeckyS from MarkP.
I guess since NASA will probably not have the Orion Ship constructed before my retirement, I suppose we should be asking for the Rusian Space channel. How in the world did we do it in the 60s? I suppose we need to stop giving money away that we don't have. Sorry sort of off topic.
I have seen a lot of requests for NASA. I have had it for years until I joined Verizon. Since it is free to them, why is it not offered to us. Even Comcast gave it to us.
I personally would love to have the NASA HD channel. I always watch it via the NASA app on my iPAD. SInce it is free to providers, I do not see why the delay. I assume that FiOS does not have to pay for each subscribers like they do for ESPN etc. So, if that is true, and it is truly free to FiOS, why can't this be bumped up tp 1st priority, or accomplished ASAP?
New NASA HD Channel debuts on February 17. Let's get it on FiOS!
NASA TV’s PUBLIC, MEDIA CHANNELS TRANSITIONING TO HD
Beginning Feb. 17, 2012, NASA Television’s Public (101) and Media (103) channels will transmit their respective content in high definition. NASA Television’s Public Channel, the "NASA TV" most often carried by cable and satellite service providers, provides digital coverage of NASA missions and events, plus documentaries, archival and other special programming. NASA TV’s Media Channel provides mission coverage, news conferences and relevant video and audio materials to local, national and international news-gathering organizations. NASA TV’s Education Channel (102) will continue in standard definition, while the current NASA TV HD Channel (105) will cease service.
They would not give up bandwidth for SD, do you really think we will get these in HD?
I think what ever bandwidth is left, is being reserved for contractual obligations, or some big profit making plan. And with mp2 and QAM, Verizon is just about plum full, unless they want to start cutting quality. Even with mp4 we are still looking at limits on the limitless fiber, and was advertized in 2005. I remember something about Verizon FiOS with no limits. My 2c!
